Bills report: Notes, quotes, anecdotes
--New WR coach Tyke Tolbert, who helped produce Pro Bowl rookie Anquan Boldin in Arizona last season: "Mike Mularkey has a great offensive mind. He's known around the league for that. ... In this profession, you have to move around a lot but I hope I can be here for a very long time. I'm very excited about this group of receivers. The group as a whole is more talented than the receivers I left in Arizona so I'm very excited about that."
--Steve Tasker continues to reign as the most visible Bill from the Super Bowl Era. The popular special teams star, who works in TV and radio nationally and locally, was recently tabbed for a series of TV ads promoting the Bills' marketing agreement with Pro Energy, a Western New York company that will provide low-cost electricity to Ralph Wilson Stadium this season.
--Ex-Bill Bruce Smith, who savored a good meal, is now the part owner of a restaurant bearing his name in Hampton, Va. The Bruce Smith Restaurant and Entertainment Complex is located in a 20,000-square foot former U.S. post office. Smith, 41, recently retired as the league's sack leader.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"No. 1, I can raise my hand every time he starts to screw up like I did 20 years ago and tell him, 'Nope, it won't work.' One thing I don't want to do, though, is be the guy who is constantly running down the hall and telling him what to do. When he wants a sounding board, I can be that and in the heat of everything, it is nice to have someone to observe and to remind him of some things he needs to do." - Bills QB coach Sam Wyche, the popular ex-Bengals head coach, describing his role on Mike Mularkey's staff.
