--The Bengals released an updated depth chart Aug. 4. Fullback Jeremi Johnson, still not on the field because of weight-related issues, has been demoted from starter to fourth string. Daniel Coats is the new No. 1 fullback, with Bradley Glatthaar moving up to No. 2.
At strong-side linebacker, Ahmad Brooks has dropped from No. 2 to third, with Darryl Blackstock moving up from third to second.
At punt returner, cornerback Deltha O'Neal has assumed the first position, ahead of wide receiver Antonio Chatman.
--For three seasons (2003-05), Bengals wide receiver Antonio Chatman was with the Green Bay Packers. He had 61 receptions in his time there, five for touchdowns, and his quarterback was Brett Favre. Chatman was surprised Thursday when teammates told him Favre had been traded to the New York Jets for a conditional fourth-round draft pick.
"It shocked me. I didn't know. A couple of guys told me," Chatman said after practice. "It's sad. I thought for sure Brett would retire with the Packers. You go back to how Jerry Rice ended his career."
Rice, the long-time San Francisco 49ers great in their Super Bowl era, played in Oakland and Seattle.
"Would you ever want to see (quarterback) John Elway with anybody but Denver?" Chatman said. "I think Brett made his decision to retire a little early in the offseason. He probably should have waited."
Chatman spent 2005 with Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay's new starter. The Bengals played Monday night in their preseason opener at Lambeau Field. Chatman said he expects Favre to still play at a high level for the Jets. The Bengals will play at the Meadowland Oct. 12 against the Jets. Favre is coming off one of his most productive seasons in his long career; he threw for 4,155 yards and had 28 touchdowns against just 15 interceptions.
"Donald Driver and I always used to mess with Brett," Chatman said of the Packers star receiver.
--Bengals running backs coach Jim Anderson is starting his 25th season with the club.
"It's kind of a fantastic thing. I'm just as excited as I was the first one," Anderson said. "It's just that the apprehension is gone."
Anderson, who turned 60 in March, joined the Bengals after working as an assistant coach for four seasons at Stanford.
"I'm grateful to Sam Wyche, who brought me to Cincinnati, and the Brown family and all the other coaches I have worked for; it's been an honor and a pleasure to work for everyone," Anderson said.
Anderson has had five Pro Bowl players: James Brooks (4); Harold Green (1); Corey Dillon (3); Lorenzo Neal (1); and Rudi Johnson (1).
QUOTE TO NOTE "You no longer see Marvin (Lewis) coaching every position on defense. Marvin told me this summer, `I don't get a chance to say anything. Zim's got the whole defense locked down.'" -- Bengals 13th-year offensive tackle Willie Anderson, on the impact of first-year defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer.

Because I actually like you guys, and I want you to know I want my team to win, here's how I see it happening.
A. It all starts up front on offense.
Kyle Cook has to come ready to play. True, he can't be worse than Ghiaciuc, but he has to be ready to handle the mammoths of our division. His 39 reps at 225

Ok let me start by saying that I make my predictions based on how teams performed the previous season, Off-season moves, and Returning players. So let’s get started on my rankings for this season
I know it is early but people are starting to hop on the Bengals bandwagon again. The casual (I only watch the games on Sunday) NFL fan says no chance but some pepole who are paid to analyze football teams are believing. John Clayton, James Walker, Boomer Esiason, and Bill Cowher are a few people in the media who have jumped on...

to being a distraction, i just saw on msn.com that he says he is planning to tweet during games. congratulations, chad has decided to go from a locker room cancer back to the attention starved joke that he has always been. im sure he'll become malignant again after the first few losses too.
We get your point. That article by DeClue-less fails to recognize that before the Ravens won both games against the Bengals last year, the Bengals had won 6 of the previous 7 games against the 'Birds. So, you can't take for granted that those games will be gimmes this yea

It looks like so far, Cincinnati could be shaping up for a great team this year. With a heatlty Palmer our offense should definitely be booming this season, as long as our o-line can protect him. A good run game would help alot, and hopefully Cedric Benson can produce this season, but as it looks to me, so far he's looking like t

Which back will have the most impact this year for the Bengals? Oh yes, and i do mean positive impact. My guess, the troubled but hopefully morally aligned Bernard Scott. He has uncanny hands for a back and excellent natural ability. Benson, has he

Following signing Tank, the Bengals had a great draft, made a great move in dropping Levi, and it looks like Roy Williams will be the newest Bengal. Defense is going to be much improved and I know losing T.J. is very tough but they may have slightly covered the wound with Coles coming in. They had a problem last year and it looks like they

Let me hear what all other Bengals fans project our win/loss record to be next season.
Personally I believe we could easily be 9-7 or 10-6 with a little luck on our side. I loved our draft and we made some decent FA pickups. There is no reason why we shouldn't actually be in contention for a wild card spot this season.

Attention Bengals fans from a guy down in Austin, and a big Texas Longhorns fan. Cedric Benson is slow to the hole, always has been, always will be. He won't do much for you this year so you still have running back problems. However, your running back situa
