Linebacker Greg Ellis was not miraculously healed in time for the Cowboys game against the Rams.

In fact he is still not 100 percent from the torn left Achilles he suffered against the Cardinals last November.

But Ellis was motivated to get on the field for the first time all season by a financial boost given to him by the Cowboys on Saturday.

The Cowboys restructured Ellis' contract, guaranteeing him next year's salary in the form of a bonus.

It was the security and comfort Ellis had been asking for since last April, when he began complaining about his salary after the Cowboys drafted linebacker Anthony Spencer in the first round.

The Cowboys were opposed to doing anything with Ellis' salary because he was coming off of an injury and there was no guarantee he was ready.

Well in this game of chicken, Ellis held fast that he wasn't going to be ready until he got some type of security. He felt the Cowboys could cut him after the season if he didn't play well. And he wasn't going to risk further injury without some sort of financial boost. Ellis also wanted the Cowboys to show him that they valued his services. The only way to do that was with money.

Ellis gave the Cowboys an instant return on their investment with 1.5 sacks in 15 plays. He also had three quarterback pressures.

"His specialty is being able to rush but that's what we put him in there to do and he did it quickly," coach Wade Phillips said. "When I was asked before the season if he came back before the first game on a Saturday would we play him, well yes, it's the fourth game now, but he's able to go out there and play and you have to utilize him the ways he can be utilized, which is pass rush first, and I was real happy for him, just the mental part he's gone through."

I'll start by stating I am a huge fan of Nick Folk, however his recent miscues are somewhat alarming.  I don't like Wade's excuses (Folk should be nailing 40-50 yarders), but I do like Folk's attitude about getiing back to form.  Hope he gets right and does it really soon!

We have the toughest schedule in the NFL to end the season.  This has got to be some kind of conspiracy by the NFL : )

What do we consider a successful December.  We really have to beat NY next week (that will finish them off), and Washington I would hope would be a win.  @ NO will be tough, San Diego is a good team, and Philly will be tough.

Is 2-3 good?

Happy Thanksgivings you guys. This has been an AWESOME day for any Cowboys fan. We really bounced back offensively and although we have problems- I will get to those next -I am very pleased with the outcome. Maybe it's the high of Thanksgivings day, maybe the highs of Cowboys winning and Colt McCoys heisman caliber game. I dunno, but thi ...(more)

Fellow NFL Fans and Referee Critics:

I thought I would start this thread and put this link in here from espn regarding a study conducted by some professors on basketball referees at the college ranks.

I think some of the finding could easily be carried over to the pro ranks and across all sports.  This just happens to be a study on basketball referees.

I'm asking this question because I believe I'm going to get the most credible answer from you.  What I'm looking for is an honest and definite answer.  Not a "we might win we might lose" type answer.

So far my observation of the team from the beginning of the season to now has been right on.  We have come this far because the majority of the teams we won against

Nice to see the Gmen brought down to earth in their first real test since the Dallas game.  It was getting downright drippy watching the so-called experts lining up on the Giants bandwagon as they dominated three clearly inferior teams after barely defeating the awful Redskins i ...(more)

we establish a BALANCED attack. EQUALIZE the running game AND the passing game. Throw some play action passes, do some draws, screens, flea flickers, you name it. As of the first half of the Pats/Saints game, Tom Brady cannot connect well on deep balls, and the running game has been abandoned. Brees looks l ...(more)

Okay.  I know that many of us said that Washington always plays us tough, but did anyone really want to believe that they could beat us.  That made watching this game even more nerve racking.

A win is a win, this isn't the BCS and style from week to week really doesn't matter. (it could in the most rare cases of tie-breaking)

Here are a few of my observations that s

That Isiah Stanback went to the Patriots.  Way to pay attention eh?  Well, at least he's finally getting playing time.  But it does bring up a funny point.  Shouldn't an offense that gives STANBACK playing time be worse than us?  I wish we were playing the Pats this season, lol.

Article brings up an interesting question.  The Cowboys offense has lacked rhythm during the last two games (except for the scoring drive late against the Skins).  During the winning streak, the offense was using an up-tempo approach and was controlling the game.  Despite his occasional stumbles, ...(more)

What more needs to be said we hate them they hate us; this Giants game will be huge on who wins the division and being December the game will be more scritinized.  Tony Romo every move will be looked at and we all know Roy E. Wlliams is the weak link of the offense; b ...(more)
