Center Dominic Raiola doesn't want to see rookie quarterback Matthew Stafford go through what former Lions quarterback Joey Harrington did in Detroit.

After the Lions' final offensive play in Sunday's 17-10 loss to St. Louis, when Stafford threw the ball out of bounds on fourth-and-20, some hecklers started getting on Stafford.

Raiola said he fired back at about three or four fans. He said he loved the fans in general but would always stick up for his teammates.

And he brought up Harrington, the No. 3 pick in the 2002 draft, who went 18-37 as a starter in Detroit and was a frequent target of abuse. He said fans should back up Stafford, the No. 1 pick this year.

"You want to run him out of town already?" Raiola said. "You know what I'm saying? That just hit home with me because I've been through it with Joey. I've been through it. They sent him packing. Quick. And they're not going to do it to this guy. I'm going to be right here next to him."

Asked what Raiola said to the fans, Stafford told WJR radio in Detroit: "I don't even remember, to tell you the truth. He didn't say anything terrible. He was just like, 'Give him a break,' 'Get out of here,' that kind of thing. It wasn't a big-time verbal altercation or anything. Yeah, he's right. They're not going to run me out of town. I'm not too worried about it."

Stafford shrugged it off.

"They want to win probably as bad as we do, and it's understandable," Stafford said. "They're going to get after guys when the team's not playing well. I like to think that I do a pretty good job of letting that stuff go.

"Dom was just standing next to me and was like, 'Hey, man, don't let that stuff get to you.' And I know that. I've been in tough situations before. It's just great to have a guy like Dom on your side. The guy comes to work every day trying to get better and to have him on the field next to us is great."

As fellow Lions fans I thought I'd share with you my first draft of the 2010 NFL draft. Since its all we really get to be excited about.
Love it, hate it, enjoy it, destroy it. Just let me know what you think. Or post yours and prove me wrong.

I think if the draft was tonight and the teams had to choose that this is the w

**see my blog**

The Lions are the NFL’s perennial bottom dwellers and could be more accurately described as a sieve rather than a football team. The Matt Millen era left the team in ruins with so many high draft choices being labelled busts and being shipped out of town. However with the appointing of new GM Martin Mayhew

The Lions have signed free agent OLB Landon Johnson.

Johnson is listed at 6'2", 232 lbs and is 29 years old.

He's played primarily on special teams for the last two years with Carolina, but was a full time starter with the Bengals before that, recording

Anthony Hargrove, who played DT and DE for the Saints is in town to meet with the Lions staff. Hargrove is a restricted free agent and if the Lions sign him, and New Orleans does not match the offer, they would take Detroits 3rd round draft pick this season. What a mistake that would ...(more)

Deji Karim, an unknown (to most of us (at least me anyhow...)) RB out of Southern Illinios put up some pretty eye popping numbers at Northwester's Pro Day.

He ran a 4.37 in his 40 and had a 43" vertical. More impressive is the size that he performed at; Karim measures in at 5'9" and 210 lbs. While the height isn't exactly ideal (although I'd argue that a shorther back stays

Heys guy's, and fellow die hard Lions fans! I've been posting things on this site due to some of your intelliegent, and very wise comments, some are quit silly but wishing thinking and most of us are on the same page... We need to fill up some very important postions, and add depth! Now as it stands we have filled some big holes, but there' ...(more)

I want Pitts to be our new left guard. In this free agency class he is the best unrestricted guard available. His age is a concern,30, and so is his recent microfracture surgery but even with those factors huge upgrade. Pitts helps everywhere... the run game, the passing game and can helpout Backus. I don't care about cornerbacks or running backs at this time those can be addressed in t ...(more)

Andrews has had some issues, but when he is on he could be a suitable replacement.  Vasher could be a decent option to start at corner for the Lions.  Free agency is opening some chances for the Lions to fill some much needed holes.  Bring thse guys in for a visit at least.

First off let me just say that this is purely speculation on my part. I haven't read any rumors about it or anything like that, so don't put any stock into it.

On NFL network they were discussing that Schwartz wants Suh and Mahew wants Okung.  Who know if there is an validity in it, but it was interesting.  Hope this is just a rumor because this is how things went south with Millen and everyone of the coaches he had, in the end Millen made the choices not listening to his scouts and coaches.  This decision may come down to eco ...(more)

Hey everyone, I was actually inspired by Tpaulus' earlier thread. So I thought to myself and decided to bring up a name I haven't seen anyone else bring up on these boards...

Now let's get down to business! The prospect I'm really interested in is CB Alterraun Verner out of UCLA. Sure, he's not the biggest or fastest guy out there, but this guy plays the game with his head. Heres his co
