--Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Austin Collie said walking away from football was never a consideration despite suffering multiple concussions in 2010.

"I don't think for me there really was a decision," Collie told the Indianapolis Star. "I didn't even entertain the thought of not coming back. I think the media made their own stories as far as what I was going to do."

Collie was named as the winner of the 2010 Noble Max Award by the Colts in December. The award, which goes to a player who has overcome adversity during the season, was voted on by media who cover the team on a regular basis.

Collie had 58 receptions for 649 yards and eight touchdown catches in just nine games. He had 60 total catches and seven touchdowns in 16 games as a rookie.

--The Colts are close to finalizing plans to continue to hold training camp at Anderson University, according to owner Jim Irsay. The big sticking point is the current lockout, which is threatening training camps, the preseason and even the regular season.

"We're obviously planning on going up there," Irsay said at the owners' meetings in Indianapolis on May 25. "We're working through the (labor) uncertainty, but you have to put things in place and have a plan. All of our people felt we had a very good experience up there last year. I look for that to be extended."

The Colts returned to Anderson - where they held training camp from 1984-98 - last year after spending the years in between in Terre Haute, Ind.

--After a second-round exchange of draft picks with Washington that allowed the Indianapolis Colts to move up in the second round, the defending AFC South champions wound up with just five selections overall.

The Colts, however, made the best of it, adding two offensive linemen, a defensive tackle, a running back and a cornerback.

Said club president Bill Polian, "As long as we get guys that contribute to this football team, then it's a success. We always feel good (after the draft). But I think that the guys that we have brought in here (during the draft) are going to make a difference.

"And, unquestionably, we will sign some collegiate free agents that will make a difference. There are still jobs open on this team. And there are players that we believe unequivocally can come in here and make this team that we'll be talking to whenever it's appropriate."

The Colts went into the draft with specific goals in mind. Those bench marks were reached.

"As we sit here right now, in a very muddled situation concerning football and roster building, we all feel really good about where we are," Polian said.

--The Colts traded up in the second round, exchanging positions with Washington, and then sent the Redskins the team's fifth-round pick in this year's draft.

--Vice Chairman Bill Polian said the lockout's on-again, off-again, on-again situation didn't impact the Colts' pre-draft preparations.

"Truthfully, it has not been complicated at all," Polian said.

--Third-round pick, DT Drake Nevis, attended the same high school and grew up in the same neighborhood as Colts WR Reggie Wayne. Nevis and Wayne are both natives of Marrero, La., and are alums of John Ehret High School.

--RB Delone Carter, the Colts' fourth-round selection, is just the latest former Orangeman to play for the Colts, joining WR Marvin Harrison, RB James Mungro, DE Josh Thomas, DE Dwight Freeney and WR Taj Smith. Additionally, first-round Indianapolis running backs coach David Walker coached running backs at Syracuse from 1995 to 2004. Walker was also a standout running back at Syracuse, rushing for 2,643 yards, fourth in school history behind Joe Morris, Larry Csonka and Floyd Little.

"I am shocked," Carter said of his selection by Indianapolis. "I have a smile on my face."
