Chiefs report: Strategy and personnel

Tackle Chris Terry could start at right tackle Saturday if John Welbourn cannot recover from an injured ankle. Kyle Turley is out with a shoulder ailment and the Chiefs have Welbourn listed as probable. The Chiefs signed Terry as a free agent on Oct. 25.

PLAYER NOTES

--WR Dante Hall did not practice Wednesday, sitting out with flu-like symptoms. He is expected to play Saturday.

--RB Michael Bennett is questionable with an ankle injury he sustained in last week's game. He did not practice Wednesday. If he cannot play, Dee Brown will replace him as Larry Johnson's backup.

--T Kyle Turley is out with a shoulder injury. Turley, who is playing at about 265 pounds, has battled injuries all season and has played just seven games.

--DE Jimmy Wilkerson, who rotates at tackle and end, will miss Saturday's game with a hamstring pull that has lingered for three weeks.

--T John Welbourn is probable with an ankle injury. He is the Chiefs' No. 2 right tackle behind Turley and has played the last two games at the spot.

GAME PLAN
The Chiefs have to find some way to get into the end zone and, though it's clear Trent Green has not played well recently as the Chiefs have struggled to protect him, it also seems the Kansas City offense has grown predictable. To score on a good Raiders defense, the Chiefs will have to mix it up, which had always been their strength in past seasons.

Defensively, the Chiefs should have little problem with the poor Raiders offense. Much like they did in the last meeting, Kansas City should play solidly and wait for Oakland to mess up.

MATCHUPS TO WATCH
Raiders QBs Aaron Brooks/Andrew Walter vs. Chiefs secondary -- This could be a futility contest, as both sides of the matchup have under-performed this season. Nonetheless, the Raiders will probably have to throw extensively against the Chiefs, who normally defend the run well.

Chiefs offensive line vs. Raiders defensive line -- Kansas City could be down to its third right tackle if John Welbourn can't play Saturday and the Chiefs have struggled to protect Green in recent weeks. Without time to throw, Green has been highly ineffective.

INJURY IMPACT
Tackle John Welbourn will probably play Saturday, but if he doesn't, the Chiefs will have a major question mark at right tackle in Chris Terry, where they've started four different players this season. Fortunately for the Chiefs, Trent Green is right handed, so his backside protection is not at stake. Terry is a veteran, but has played only 13 games in the last three seasons.

I am really unhappy with the talent on this team. We look to be years away from a 6-10 record (my hope for this season) let alone a playoff appearence.

Here are some things Scott Pioli should take note of and take into consideration when assembling a roster in the future.

Casey Weigmann is the starting Center for the 11th ranked Offense in the NFL.

I was watching the Vikings/Packers game yesterday, have seen the highlights and post game interviews as well.   I am totally shocked at the classless loud booing that Packers fans heeped on Favre yesterday.   I expected to hear a mixing of boos and cheers but the b ...(more)

I know everyone is going to chime in with "why did we cut Pollard!?" but you can't ever tell who is going to get hurt. Knowing our management, they like putting players off the playing list so they can give someone else a chance to step up. I think that Page's injury, until we know the details, is one that would put him out a until December and upper management made the call to put him on IR so th ...(more)

I was actually pretty excited when we drafted this guy because I saw some of the things he did at Tennessee and thought he could be really good.  He showed some signs in limited play behind Tony G. and now has gone into hiding.  Personally I haven't seen anything from Ryan thus far and am curiuos as to why cottam hasn't seen more action.

Not that he's what the

And another segment of For what it's worth, let's go to the Raiders camp first.........

" In the wake of the loss to San Diego last Sunday, several players expressed disappointment or disgust with the bye-week schedule. If there was such a thing, it had not been revealed to them.

That's right. The R ...(more)

Just saw that we claimed Chris Chambers off the waiver wire... well there's a couple million bucks out of the cap to pay his contract.  Not sure he has much left to offer but we will see.  We all know how the Chiefs like to play WR's within the first week of them ...(more)

I've heard by run of the mouth that Larry Johnson called the Chiefs $5 dollar an hour fans.  I'm assuming thats referring to the blue collar nature of KC, but I wanted to check and make sure that LJ actually had said this.  It's not getting near the play that his ...(more)

(POLL) I know it's been tough to be a Chiefs fan the last few years and this weeks game was unwatchable. But lets keep our faith that Scott Pioli and Todd Haley know what the hell they are doing.

We have a week off to get the starters back and make middle of the season changes.

Changes should be made with many of the st

(POLL) Sounds like LJ will be suspended or benched thanks to his latest outbursts. I wonder how this will effect our running game? Will Jamaal Charles and Kolby Smith increase our average rushing yards per game?

(POLL) PPR league. I have Addai, Forte, Benson, Westbrook, and McCoy at RB. Sims-Walker, Bowe, N. Washington, B. Edwards, Harvin, Maclin, and Hester. (Its a 10 team league and we have 20 roster spots.) The trade would be me giving up Addai straight up for Hines Ward. I have an influx of WR's but none with the production of Hines Ward. ...(more)

I was wanting to know the community's opinion on new uniforms. Nothing to crazy, but what are your ideas? I know the Chiefs have always been a traditional team so this is a real stretch, but when I seen all the AFL uniforms, ours was the one that had changed the least. So what ya got?

If being disrespectful towards women and gays isn't bad enough, now lj thinks it is his place to criticize the coach? I think if I were averaging 2 yards a carry i would shut my mouth and walk the line, but this ignorant overgrown BABY, (Coach Vermeil had it right there) needs to see what its like not to have everything handed to you on a silver platter. I knew after being abusive towards women an ...(more)

Everyone needs to read this and sign the petition to keep this name out of Kansas City Chiefs History.  LJ doesn't deserve to break Priest Holmes record and with your help we can stop this from happening.  I have attached the link to the petition for you to read and sign.

Here is an article that I found a very interesting read.  It explains some of the Haley tennents of being.  Give it a read.  It won't change whether or not you agree with his actions, but it at least gives some insight into the reason he does what he does.

Because the Donks lost. Orton got exposed for the fraud he is and the Ravens defense controlled the line of scrimmage. Sorry McGenius..... that dink and dunk offense will only get you so far. Good defenses will shut that down. It was sad to watch, Orton was still dumping the ball off on nearly every pass in the 4th quarter when they were do ...(more)
