Giants report: Notes, quotes

Notes, quotes · Inside slant · Strategy and personnel

--The Giants, without a first round draft pick, have been quietly inquiring as to the availability of one via trade. The best-sounding rumor so far is for them to package their second round pick (43rd) and cornerback Will Allen (a former first round pick) to St. Louis for the Rams' first (19th overall). But what they'd do with it remains unclear.

--The team's obvious need for a LT may not be satisfied in free agency. On the other hand, with Kareem McKenzie signing, they can put him at his accustomed position of RT and move David Diehl back to RG, where he started as a rookie. Diehl was moved to RT last year and wasn't as good; in fact, a few personnel scouts suggested that the 6-5, 320-pound Diehl has a chance to be a Pro Bowl guard.

--The Giants are trying to re-sign RB Mike Cloud but have no interest in doing the same to RB Ron Dayne, their first round pick in 2000. A rumor last week had Dayne signing with Houston, but the Texans released a statement saying they had "no interest in that player."

QUOTE TO NOTE
"I have been here for eight years and a lot of my life is in that locker room. But this is a business above all. I understand the situation and I have no regrets or resentment. It was a fun ride." -- WR Ike Hilliard, released by the Giants because of salary restrictions.

Considering our weakness in the defensive secondary, the San Diego passing game, the San Diego weakness against the run and our need to control the clock.  Would maximizing our run offense, even with a mediocre BJ and an injured Amhad Bradshaw be our best bet? I posted the above several days ago factoring in a San Diego D ...(more)

I know it's early boys and girl but i need to get some thoughts here. Noway am i just tossing the Raider's away and jumpin straight to the juice but, i couldn't help it. There some questions out there that i need some input. I'm blinded by the fact my team is NO JOKE. Question number 1. Is the Saints really a threat to the ...(more)

I think we should scoop this guy up, it was not to long ago that this guy was a monster. Sometimes being part of a bad organization takes the worst out of you, but being part of a good organization good redeem yourself. It's clear that we have problems in the running game, I am a Bradshaw guy, but he's not the answer, and for you Jacobs guys, hes not a starter. Why not take a chance on him, trust ...(more)

This Giants team simply lacks playmakers on both sides of the ball.  There's no explosiveness, speed, or anything that intimidates the opposing team.  The good news is we can possibly save our season with a victory over Atlanta in a couple of weeks.  The bad is that they're way faster and have much more playmaking ability tha ...(more)

Well here we go, another crap performance today and you won't see me on here or in front of a TV watching a Giants game until next season. I've had enough of this garbage I've had to sit through the last 3 Sundays, now or never.

The Giants have looked awful on D the last four weeeks. The injuries to the secondary and LB's has prevented the Giants from putting out a consistent unit each week. Boley has played sparingly and Ross has not even made it on the field. Phillips injury decimated the secondary also. The Giants started ROUSE at safety yesterday. Hopefully the ...(more)

We were never going to go undefeated and we were going to have bad games.  Hell even if we lose tomorrow, it's still not the end of the season/life as we know it.

A lot of you here are acting like you've never seen a losing streak in football.  It happens...

So lets not bench Eli, cut Osi, fire all the coaches and sell the team just yet.  Even if we do lose a f

Dear Giant Fans:      Did anyone believe during the pre-season, that this  talent laden Giant team would be in a total " free fall " by game 9 of the regular season?  Ladies and gentlemen, the wheels have come off of the wagon.  Realistically you cannot blame anyone but the players.  They seem to be playing without genuine emotion, without conviction an ...(more)

I don't normally do this, but I am going to release one of our syndicate's strongest plays of the year to my fellow CBS community bloggers. This is being done as a courtesy only.  We base our picks vs. the spread on pure logic and statistical certainty, which I will outline below.

Dare i say it before the bye week. This is a must win game against San Diego. I know it's a hard pill to swallow right now but i think the Giants want to out on a high note. Like a said plenty of times before, i believe we will not see the like's of the injured until after the bye ...(more)
