Raiders report: Notes, quotes, anecdotes

Inside slant | Strategy and personnel

--There are numerous questions on the team's defensive line as training camp approaches. The only certain starter is John Parrella at right tackle. Starting end Tony Bryant may not play again after suffering a severe neck injury mid-year. Another end, Trace Armstrong, is 37 and coming off a torn groin. That's why they drafted a grinder in round one, end Tyler Brayton, and situational rushers Sam Williams and Shurron Pierson in Rounds 3-4. Their top pass rusher remains tackle Roderick Coleman.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"Sack wise, it's not as if we were on the bottom of the league. We still applied pressure with what we had. But you are always looking to take it to that next level." -- Defensive coordinator Chuck Bresnahan, on his unit which provided 43 sacks a year ago.
