Eagles report: Notes, quotes

Notes, quotes · Strategy and personnel · Inside slant

--With four more giveaways Sunday, all on A.J. Feeley interceptions, the Eagles have turned the ball over 22 times this season, including 15 in their last five games. "There were way too many turnovers, and we didn't capitalize on the ones we were able to get," coach Andy Reid said. "You can't win games like that in the National Football League. You have to take care of business. You can't turn the ball over, and you have to score when you have opportunities."

--On a cold, wet day, 46 of the Eagles' 72 offensive plays curiously were pass plays. Their best offensive weapon, RB Brian Westbrook, scored on a 29-yard run two minutes into the second quarter, then got just seven more rushing attempts on the Eagles' final eight possessions. "With the weather, you'd think we'd run the ball a little more," said Westbrook, who rushed for 93 yards on 21 carries and almost won the game in the final seconds with a 64-yard punt return. "But we're a passing team and we've always been. We're probably going to continue to be that, so I'm not surprised by what happened out there."

PLAYER PERSONNEL NOTES

--QB Donovan McNabb, who has missed the past two games with ankle and thumb injuries, should be ready to practice on Wednesday and is expected to play Sunday against the Giants.

--DT Brodrick Bunkley, who missed Sunday's game against Seattle with a sprained knee, had an MRI on the knee Monday. Eagles coach Andy Reid said the MRI didn't show anything seriously wrong with the knee, but he didn't know whether Bunkley would be able to play this week.

--DT Kimo von Oelhoffen, who had been active for just three games this season, started Sunday in place of injured Brodrick Bunkley. Coach Andy Reid said von Oelhoffen got the start instead of LaJuan Ramsey, who had been the team's No. 3 defensive tackle, because von Oelhoffen is stronger against the run.

--CB Lito Sheppard, who left Sunday's game in the second quarter with a knee injury, has inflammation in his knee. The Eagles have listed him as day-to-day. He missed four games earlier this season with an MCL sprain to the same knee.

--WR Jason Avant aggravated a groin injury he has been playing with much of the season. Coach Andy Reid said it was pretty sore Monday. Avant's status for Sunday's game against the Giants is unclear. Avant is the team's slot receiver, though the Eagles also use Greg Lewis and Hank Baskett in different packages with starters Reggie Brown and Kevin Curtis.
