--An asteroid has been named for Myron Cope, the beloved Steelers broadcaster who died Feb. 27. Like the diminutive Cope, it's a small one. The asteroid is named 7835 Myroncope and it's located between Mars and Jupiter. The name was proposed by Dr. Eric Mamajek of the Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics in Cambridge, Mass.

--Santonio Holmes wants a chance to return punts and he will get it, said coach Mike Tomlin, who would not allow Holmes to return last season.

"The judgment we made in regards to that last year really was more about his development as a receiver," Tomlin said. "He was a second-year player ... He's a year older, seemingly a year wiser. We'll see if he can handle it. If he can, we'll explore it."

Other candidates to return punts and/or kickoffs are Mewelde Moore, Rashard Mendenhall, Jeremy Bloom and Willie Reid.

--The Steelers will have their shortest training camp, perhaps ever, when coach Mike Tomlin takes them to Latrobe July 27 for three weeks at Saint Vincent College. Tomlin could have opened camp three days earlier but decided to keep it short because the roster is limited to 80 players this year. Without NFL Europe, there are no more exemptions for players from that league on NFL camp rosters, which had as many as 86 players.

"I think you have to approach it differently from that standpoint," Tomlin said. "We are a veteran team in some areas; we have to approach it differently because of that."

--Linebacker James Farrior wore the helmet with the radio transmitter the final couple days of OTAs to get used to it. Farrior, who stays on the field at all times on defense, will wear the helmet during the season.

"Really, we're just making sure we're comfortable with the technology," Tomlin said.

QUOTE TO NOTE
"I'm not going to talk about guys who are not here. It's voluntary and I'm going to leave it at that." - Coach Mike Tomlin when asked why Pro Bowl NT Casey Hampton was missing much of the time.

(POLL) After seeing Prisco's polls it got me wondering. How good are the Bengals? I mean yeah they've been playing great football, and they are finally showing a desire to win, but one must question: How will this translate in the playoffs? Last time the Steeler and the Bengals faced off they got elimitated early after streaking the enti ...(more)

Take a look at Hines Ward's comments below.  I need someone with more football knowledge than myself to explain if the play calling against the Bengals on Sunday was as assinine as it appears to be on the surface given what to do when teams are running a Cover 2 def ...(more)

I know that we have a great offense around the board. A really good QB, 3 really good RB's (why is Willie not playing)? and 4 guys who can catch just about anything. Okay if Ben's having a bad day like he did against the Bengals why didn't we run the ball more? The damn Bengals are not better than us, our Defense kicked there butts they sco ...(more)

As a diehard Steeler fan I must say.....Jeff Reed HAS TO GO! He has costed us two games with late missed field goals.  His off the field problems with the police. And please steeler fans, I'm sure its not me thats just seeing it.....but who else has seen the tackles that Reed has failed to make?? It just looks like he is scared to tackle someone!  Two games this season on kick returns he ...(more)

the season is not lost guys, we just have to face reality that the Bengals are a good team, but we can still make the playoffs we are 6-3 and right in the thick of things we are not out of this by a long shot, but we all thought the AFC North would be decided between the Steelers and ...(more)

I see that 75% of the city is doing the usual this morning and blaming the play calling for the loss just like any other time. God forbid it was the terrible performance by roethlisberger, the offensive line, and special teams. Did Arians call the kick coverage on that run back for a td?

Anyone who wants Arians fired is an idiot. What's even more pathetic is that most of you do ...(more)

Saturday is finally here, after 7+ months of watching college ball, read everything on the ,net, my work is done. Time to sit back and pray that Colbert gets it right.

Some things I have running through my mind.... Connor Barwin, has to go to the Patriots, Belichick gave up Vrabel, Barwin is a converted TE, that plays LB and a pro

Coach Mike Tomlin: Good Afternoon. Big week for us, we’re looking for an opportunity to rebound from a sub-par performance as we get ready to go to Kansas City. In review of Sunday’s game, it’s quite simple, we didn’t play well enough to win in certain particular areas, such is life. We’ll make proper adjustments ...(more)

Please at least for the rest of the week, quit giving so much respect to this overrated Bengals team. I am so sick of it, I want to puke. First on Sunday, every announcer that could speak, was praising the Bengals, They are for real, they are the best in the north and Quadry Ismael even said they had the advantage sunday, even with the ...(more)

"Wide receiver Limas Sweed, who has dressed for the past two games, has climbed back into favor of sorts with the coaching staff after three good weeks of practice.

"He's done it in practice. He's earned the right to get back out on the field," Arians said. "I have confidence in him, but we're not going to ...(more)

Seven (7)......the number of consecutive weeks that we've had a TD scored against us without our defense on the field.  Truly pathetic.  That has to be close to an NFL record.  Special teams continues to be a HUGE CONCERN.  If you have to put starters in the game, than do it Tomlin.

Four (4)......the number of 1st and goals Pitt had today...........only to come away

Dunno if any of you guys have seen this.
A steeler fan was in Chicago for the Bears game at a bar. I guess there was some smack talk going on between The Pittsburgh guys and Chi-town Fans, and to make peace the Chicago guys bought the Steeler fans a round. One of the Steeler fans passed out, was rushed to the hospital, his heart stoppe

Hello Steelers fans.  Pittsburgh comes to Arrowhead on Sunday.  Normally, I would agree with the consensus that the Chiefs have little to no chance to win this week.  However, with a big divisional road game on the 29th against the ...(more)
