--The Steelers, who have the best home record in the NFL since the 1970 merger, are 4-0 in Heinz Field this season. Despite their 220-83-1 record at Heinz and Three Rivers Stadium before it, the Steelers have had only three unbeaten seasons at home, the latest in 2004 when they went 8-0. They also were perfect in 1979 and 1972.
--Pittsburgh ranks first in the AFC and second in the NFL in rushing defense, allowing just 76.6 yards per game. Since 2001, they have fallen out of the top-three ranking in the league just once and they have led the AFC four times and the NFL three times in run defense.
--The jersey Hines Ward wore when he reached 10,000 career receiving yards this season now hangs in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Ward, a four-time Pro Bowler off to a fast start this season, owns most of the team's receiving records. In his 12th season, he ranks second in the league with 603 receiving yards and fourth with 42 receptions.
--Defensive end Aaron Smith promised he will return to play next season after he undergoes surgery to repair a rotator cuff tear. Smith, 33, was placed on injured reserve after the injury was diagnosed two weeks ago.
