PLAYER NOTES

--FS Ryan Clark will not play at Denver because of the reaction his system had when he played there two years ago. Clark has a sickle-cell trait acerbated by high altitude. After the game in 2007, he had to have his spleen and gall bladder removed and became so ill he lost 30 pounds while missing the rest of the season.

--RB Willie Parker said he might abandon the special Nike shoes made for him after he suffered turf toe. He believes the toe has healed enough to do that.

--QB Ben Roethlisberger needs one more passer rating of 100 to give him more than Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw. Each recorded 31 games of at least 100.

--RB Rashard Mendenhall has shown a good ability to catch passes, something Willie Parker never did. He's caught eight and could take some catches from third-down back Mewelde Moore.

--WR Hines Ward has never had a 100-yard receiving game in Denver. His best came in 2003 when he caught eight passes for 81 yards.

--LB Keyaron Fox, a special-teams co-captain, remains their leader on the field with 12 tackles. He will make his third start at inside linebacker if Lawrence Timmons does not go.

GAME PLAN
The Steelers would like to run the ball in Denver and keep the Broncos' pass rush at bay and Rashard Mendenhall has done well in his four starts and averages 5.4 yards per carry. On defense, they always try to stop the run first and will do that, and try to tighten up the middle of their defense against the Broncos patient dink-and-dunk passing attack; that will be more difficult for them if either or both LB Lawrence Timmons and FS Ryan Clark do not play.

MATCHUPS TO WATCH
Steelers LOLB LaMarr Woodley vs. Broncos RT Tyler Polumbus. Woodley has only two sacks this season but goes against backup making his first start.

--Steelers LT Max Starks vs. Broncos ROLB Elvis Dumervil. Dumervil, who has 10 sacks, is only 5-foot-11; Starks is 6-8.

INJURY IMPACT

--LB Lawrence Timmons has not practiced this week because of a sprained right ankle. He said his chances of playing in Denver are "day to day."

Usually once or so a year the Steelers blow out an opponent. I don't know if it is revenge for a loss or to increase personal statistics. Today is that day. After the Cinnci loss there seems to be something about today's game. I am predicting the Chiefs defense gets walloped t ...(more)

(POLL) After seeing Prisco's polls it got me wondering. How good are the Bengals? I mean yeah they've been playing great football, and they are finally showing a desire to win, but one must question: How will this translate in the playoffs? Last time the Steeler and the Bengals faced off they got elimitated early after streaking the enti ...(more)

Take a look at Hines Ward's comments below.  I need someone with more football knowledge than myself to explain if the play calling against the Bengals on Sunday was as assinine as it appears to be on the surface given what to do when teams are running a Cover 2 def ...(more)

They just reported he will be out at least a  month.   So it is up to the rest of the defense to step up,  moreso than they did earlier in the year when he got hurt.  I guarantee we would be undefeated right now if he never got injured, theres no doubt about it to me.  That's how important he is to the ...(more)

I know that we have a great offense around the board. A really good QB, 3 really good RB's (why is Willie not playing)? and 4 guys who can catch just about anything. Okay if Ben's having a bad day like he did against the Bengals why didn't we run the ball more? The damn Bengals are not better than us, our Defense kicked there butts they sco ...(more)

First off, I want to say that I am a Jeff Reed supporter. There isn`t another kicker in the league that I want kicking field goals for the Steelers on Sunday. That being said, Reed has no business handling kickoff duties and it is killing us. I don`t really worry at all ab ...(more)

Worse than it was during the year we lost to the Pats in the AFC championship.

It is pathetic.   The Chiefs got their first return for a TD since 2005.   Wow

The coach needs to be fired.  How can you go from the top kickoff coverage unit, to the worst in one year?

I see that 75% of the city is doing the usual this morning and blaming the play calling for the loss just like any other time. God forbid it was the terrible performance by roethlisberger, the offensive line, and special teams. Did Arians call the kick coverage on that run back for a td?

Anyone who wants Arians fired is an idiot. What's even more pathetic is that most of you do ...(more)

Saturday is finally here, after 7+ months of watching college ball, read everything on the ,net, my work is done. Time to sit back and pray that Colbert gets it right.

Some things I have running through my mind.... Connor Barwin, has to go to the Patriots, Belichick gave up Vrabel, Barwin is a converted TE, that plays LB and a pro

PLAY-ACTION.      Okay Arians has made it clear that Pittsburgh is not going to run the ball as much as we used to. We get it Bruce. If you are not going to run it could you at least keep a single back in the backfield and use PLAY-ACTION to freeze a safety maybe, maybe even a corner, maybe even a linebacker. Hell all 3 would be nice but i wo ...(more)

As a diehard Steeler fan I must say.....Jeff Reed HAS TO GO! He has costed us two games with late missed field goals.  His off the field problems with the police. And please steeler fans, I'm sure its not me thats just seeing it.....but who else has seen the tackles that Reed has failed to make?? It just looks like he is scared to tackle someone!  Two games this season on kick returns he ...(more)

the season is not lost guys, we just have to face reality that the Bengals are a good team, but we can still make the playoffs we are 6-3 and right in the thick of things we are not out of this by a long shot, but we all thought the AFC North would be decided between the Steelers and ...(more)

Coach Mike Tomlin: Good Afternoon. Big week for us, we’re looking for an opportunity to rebound from a sub-par performance as we get ready to go to Kansas City. In review of Sunday’s game, it’s quite simple, we didn’t play well enough to win in certain particular areas, such is life. We’ll make proper adjustments ...(more)

Please at least for the rest of the week, quit giving so much respect to this overrated Bengals team. I am so sick of it, I want to puke. First on Sunday, every announcer that could speak, was praising the Bengals, They are for real, they are the best in the north and Quadry Ismael even said they had the advantage sunday, even with the ...(more)
