--Kicker Jeff Reed signed his franchise tender for $2,814,000.
"It's our goal to try to keep working and see him stay for a long time in Pittsburgh," agent Don Henderson said. "They told us that's what they want and that's what we want. They've been dealing with us and talking to us. Hopefully, we'll sign a long-term contract and he will remain in Pittsburgh."
--Mike Wallace, who led the NFL with a 19.4-yard average per catch during his rookie season in 2009 with 39 receptions for 756 yards, should take over Santonio Holmes' old starting split end spot with Hines Ward at flanker. The Steelers signed veteran free agents Antwaan Randle El and Arnaz Battle.
"I think obviously Santonio was a game-changer, a big-time player," tight end Heath Miller said. "At the same time we have guys talented in their own right and I'll be excited to see how they compete and work and I know they are more than capable of getting the job done."
"There are no negotiations," said Colon's agent, Joe Linta. "The Steelers have shown no interest or desire to sign Willie to a long-term contract and that's certainly their prerogative."
Colon, Gay and Spaeth have signed their one-year tenders.
