-- Running back Rashard Mendenhall lost a yard and his 100-yard rushing game last Sunday against the New York Jets. The Elias Sports Bureau deducted a yard from his total, giving Mendenhall his second 99-yard game of the season to go with three 100-yarders. He leads the Steelers with 1,237 yards rushing.
-- If the Steelers get a home playoff game, they will play on their third different grass field of the season. Heinz Field, which is 100 percent grass, was completely re-sodded after Thanksgiving. It is getting another new field of sod after the NHL Winter Classic Jan. 1 between the Pittsburgh Penguins and Washington Capitals at Heinz Field.
-- Safety Ryan Clark was not fined for his hit last Sunday on Braylon Edwards of the New York Jets. It probably means the hit was legal even though it drew a 15-yard roughing penalty that helped the Jets on a touchdown drive.
