Bills LB Jon Corto sustained a concussion during Thursday's preseason game against the Lions. He had three tackles (two solo). Corto had eight tackles in the preseason.

Buffalo TE Jonathan Stupar saw action Week 8 in a loss to Houston. He did not stat in the game. Backup QB Gibran Hamdan and RB Xavier Omon did not play in the game.

Buffalo WR Steve Johnson caught one pass in Week 8 against Houston. It went for 5 yards.

The Bills expect to promote James Hardy to their active roster because the second-year receiver has shown he's fully recovered 10 months after having left knee surgery. Barring "something unexpected," coach Dick Jauron said Monday he's leaning toward promoting Hardy, who spent the first six weeks on the physically unable to perform list. The 2008 second-round draft pick out of Indiana began practicing two weeks ago. The Bills enter their bye and have until the start of next week to activate Hardy or place him on season-ending injured reserve. Promoting Hardy would require the Bills to drop a player, potentially one of the six receivers currently on their roster.

Knee - PUP. Questionable for Week 10 at Tennessee

Buffalo DL Chris Kelsay has been listed as probable for the team's Week 8 game against the Texans with a back injury.

Bills coach Dick Jauron says middle linebackers Kawika Mitchell and Marcus Buggs will miss the rest of the season because of knee injuries. They were hurt in a 6-3 loss to Cleveland on Sunday and Jauron says both require surgery. Mitchell was carried from the field after hurting his right knee early in the second quarter when he was hit by two Browns linemen while trying to make a tackle. Buggs injured his left leg covering on a punt return late in the third quarter. He was also carted.

Bills starting cornerback Terrence McGee had arthroscopic surgery on his right knee to repair minor damage and expects to be out for about two weeks. McGee said Tuesday he waited to have the operation on Monday, when the Bills began their bye week so that he would not miss much playing time. Buffalo is off until a road game against Tennessee on Nov. 15. McGee said doctors told him the operation went well. McGee, who hasn't missed a game this season, injured his knee during a 38-10 loss at Miami on Oct. 4.

Rookie safety Jairus Byrd aggravated a groin injury, and traveled to Philadelphia to see a specialist. Coach Dick Jauron said the trip had already been planned as a checkup to determine how the player has healed after having surgery to repair a sports hernia last summer. Before leaving the game against Houston late in the fourth quarter, Byrd had two interceptions to become the first NFL player since San Francisco's Dave Baker in 1960 to have at least two in three straight games. Byrd also extended his interception streak to four games to match a team record held by seven players. He has seven interceptions to lead the NFL as of Monday night.

Buffalo WR Terrell Owens did not have a good game against Houston in Week 8 catching the football. He did, however, score a rushing touchdown. Owens finished with five catches for 39 yards to lead a laughable passing attack and rushed once for a 29-yard touchdown in the 1st quarter for the game's first score.

Buffalo K Rian Lindell went 1 for 1 on field goals in Week 8 in a loss at home to Houston. Lindell nailed a 21-yard field goal and made his only extra-point attempt in the defeat. He finished with four points.

Bills rookie defensive end Aaron Maybin will play mostly with the second-team defense in his preseason debut Saturday at Pittsburgh. This weekend, the coaching staff's expectations are guarded regarding Maybin, who will play mostly with the second-team defense. "Really, it's hard for me to say," defensive coordinator Perry Fewell said. "He's going to be definitely a work in progress. We're just going to look for the fundamentals out of him: Will he play the game fast?"

The injuries keep piling up on the Bills, who could be missing three-quarters of their defensive backfield for their game at Miami this weekend. Cornerback Leodis McKelvin (broken leg) and safeties Donte Whitner (thumb) and Bryan Scott (high ankle sprain) missed practice Wednesday after they were hurt in a 27-7 loss against New Orleans last weekend. McKelvin is out and Whitner and Scott aren't likely to play. Drayton Florence is expected to fill in for McKelvin while George Wilson and Jairus Byrd will fill in at safety if needed.

Buffalo starting middle linebacker Paul Posluszny and starting safety Donte Whitner are both probable for the Bills game at the New York Jets. Posluszny has missed the past four games because of a broken forearm, while Whitner missed his second straight game last Sunday because of a thumb injury. Both players participated fully in practice on Thursday and Friday. Starting safety Bryan Scott (ankle) is out for Sunday's game, while starting linebacker Keith Ellison (knee) is questionable. Starting cornerback Terrence McGee (knee) is probable.

Bills TE Derek Schouman was placed on injured reserve Tuesday with a knee injury. His season is over.

Backup Ryan Fitzpatrick helped the Bills go 2-1 after Edwards was hurt in a 16-13 overtime win over the Jets on Oct. 18.

The Buffalo News reports fifth-round pick Nic Harris on Wednesday became the third of the Bills' eight draftees to sign a deal. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Harris started 37 of 51 games at Oklahoma and ranks sixth in Sooners history among defensive backs with 233 tackles (143 solo) and 12th with 21 pass break-ups. The 6-foot-2, 232-pounder earned First-Team All-Big Twelve Conference honors from the league's coaches in 2007 and 2008.
