Cowboys LB DeMarcus Ware will undergo surgery to shave down a bone spur in his left foot, reports ESPN. Ware dealt with injuries throughout the 2009 season including a sprained neck that required him being carted off the field on a stretcher.

Cowboys TE Jason Witten said in an interview with CBSSports.com that only scoring two touchdowns in 2009 was frustrating, but overall he had a tremendous year. Witten finished with 94 catches for 1,030 yards and the two scores, and the catches and yards were the second-best totals of his career. "I thought I had a good year," Witten said. "I didn't get in the end zone as much as I liked. You want to be that guy that makes those critical plays. I was just excited that we had such a good year."

What a welcome back reward for Ken Hamlin. The Dallas Cowboys safety is getting back in the lineup just in time to go against the NFL's most productive offense. After missing four games because of a high right ankle sprain, Hamlin's return is expected to come Saturday night against the undefeated New Orleans Saints, who average 426 yards and 36 points a game. "Any game where I would have come back would have been a tough offense," Hamlin said Wednesday. "I'm a competitor, so I want to be out on the field. It's going to be an exciting game I think, but I'm ready to get back to start playing." While the Cowboys listed Hamlin as having only limited participation in practice Wednesday, coach Wade Phillips said the safety took most of the snaps with the first-team defense and was moving around good.

The only player left out: kicker Shaun Suisham, who struggled after replacing Nick Folk late in the season. Kickoff specialist David Buehler and Connor Hughes are the only kickers left on the Cowboys' roster, and there is speculation that Buehler will be given the chance to kick field goals. "He's obviously got the leg," head coach Wade Phillips told the Dallas Morning News. "He hit some long ones in practice because we only basically practiced him on the long ones. He hit a fair percentage of those. He's not where we want him to be, but I think he can get there."
