Backup linebacker Erin Henderson has returned to the Vikings after completing a four-game suspension for violating the NFL's policy on performance-enhancing substances. Henderson was at practice on Wednesday. He has played in only two games for Minnesota this season, primarily on special teams.

Vikings DL Jared Allen had one tackle, a sack in Week 17 against the Giants. He also forced a fumble on the play. Allen finished the season with 14.5 sacks and five forced fumbles.

In an interview with CBSSports.com at Thursday's Pro Bowl practice in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Vikings RB Adrian Peterson said he needs to work on doing a better job of holding onto the football and not fumbling so much. Peterson lost six of seven fumbles during the regular season then fumbled twice against the Saints in NFC Championship, although the Vikings recovered both of them. A lost one, though, was credited to Brett Favre, even though it was a fumbled exchange between him and Peterson. "There's like a rap sheet that's out there now," Peterson said. "Guys would rather hit the ball instead of tackling me. I put that on myself, but it comes with the way I run. It's something I'm going to focus on, as far as switch it up a little bit. Carry it a little higher or what-not."

The Minnesota Vikings and cornerback Benny Sapp have agreed to terms on a new contract. Sapp started a total of seven games last season while filling in for injured starter Antoine Winfield, totaling 25 tackles, two passes defensed and two forced fumbles during a particularly strong six-game stretch. He finished the regular season with 55 tackles, the most in his NFL seasons.

Vikings RB Albert Young rushed a team-high 10 times for 40 yards in Week 17 against the Giants. He had just two carries for 13 yards coming into the game.

Vikings DT Pat Williams said Monday he's "50-50" on whether he'll return for the final year of his contract. The three-time Pro Bowl pick said he feels fine physically, but is mentally "drained" after a devastating end to his 13th NFL season. Williams is the anchor of a defense that gave up the fewest yards rushing in the league for three straight seasons starting in 2006.

The Vikings waived fourth-year receiver Glenn Holt on Thursday. Holt was battling for a spot on the receiver depth chart and as a returner on special teams.

Vikings LB Chad Greenway (11 tackles), DL Pat Williams (six tackles, sack), DB Madieu Williams (five tackles) and DB Cedric Griffin (five tackles) all did well in a Week 8 win over the Packers.

Minnesota WR Greg Lewis hauled in a 27-yard catch from Brett Favre in the second half of Monday's Week 16 overtime loss to the Bears. It was his only catch of the game.

Brett Favre said Thursday he still hasn't decided whether he'll play again next season - and doesn't expect to make an announcement anytime soon. Appearing on NBC's "The Tonight Show" on Thursday night, the Vikings quarterback politely demurred when asked for his thoughts on returning for 2010. "I know now that I'm just not going to say anything anytime soon, just going to kind of sit back, relax, enjoy the offseason," Favre said in his first public comments since Minnesota's bitter overtime loss in the NFC championship at New Orleans on Jan. 24.

Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell converted three field goals and five extra points in Week 17 against the Giants. He finished the game with 14 points. It was his second highest scoring output of the season, coming in a 44-7 win over the Giants.

Vikings RB Jeff Dugan did not have any carries in Week 17 against the Giants. He did, however, catch one pass for 7 yards.

Vikings coach Brad Childress says linebacker E.J. Henderson is in "good spirits" after having surgery on his broken left leg. Henderson stayed in intensive care at a Phoenix-area hospital while the rest of his teammates went home Sunday night after a 30-17 loss to the Cardinals. Childress said Monday that the surgery went well. But the coach was not ready to say when, if ever, Henderson would be able to return to the field. The gruesome nature of the injury shook up Henderson's teammates.

Leg - Probable for start of training camp

On Monday, the Vikings waived DT Joe Bradley, DT Alex Guerrero, QB Drew Henson, LB John Kerr, WR Todd Lowber and CB Jerron Wishom.

Vikings WR Bernard Berrian (ankle) participated in Sunday's 31-28 overtime loss against New Orleans. Berrian caught nine passes for 102 yards and zero touchdowns. It was the best receiving game for Berrian all year in terms of catches and yards.

Vikings special teams standout Heath Farwell is questionable for the game against the Detroit Lions with a hamstring injury. Farwell was injured in the season opener against the Cleveland Browns. He has been limited in practice all week. He missed all of last season with a knee injury, one of the main reasons the Vikings struggled on special teams last year.

Minnesota WR Darius Reynaud was limited to returning punts in the Monday night overtime loss to the Bears Week 16. He did not touch the ball offensively in the game.

Minnesota TE Visanthe Shiancoe only managed one reception in Sunday's NFC Divisional Playoff win over the Cowboys, 34-3. Shiancoe caught one pass for 11 yards and it came late in the 4th quarter with the game already decided. Shiancoe dove for the grab in the end zone for a touchdown to give the game its final margin.

The Vikings not only lost at Arizona in Week 13, but they lost the man in the middle of their defense. LB E.J. Henderson broke his leg, according to head coach Brad Childress, likely forcing him to season-ending injured reserve. Henderson had 10 total tackles before the injury in the fourth quarter.

The St. Paul Pioneer-Press reports that Vikings CB Antoine Winfield met with a foot specialist Thursday and will not need surgery. Rest was recommended for Winfield, who missed six games in 2009 because of a fractured right foot. Winfield is expected to be healed and ready for training camp.

The Minnesota Vikings have signed kickoff specialist Rhys Lloyd. He handled kickoffs for the Carolina Panthers the last two seasons, leading the NFL with 30 touchbacks in 2008. He had 21 touchbacks last year, tied for fourth-most in the league. But Ryan Longwell remains the regular kicker for the Vikings.

Vikings cornerback Cedric Griffin will have surgery to repair an injured left knee and might not be ready for the start of next season. It is believed that Griffin tore his left ACL when covering the overtime kickoff in Minnesota's loss at New Orleans in the NFC championship game. Coach Brad Childress said that Griffin will have surgery once some of the strength and range of motion returns in his knee. Childress didn't offer specific details of the injury, but said Griffin faces a recovery time of six to nine months. That puts his availability for training camp and the early part of next season in doubt. "Everybody heals a little bit differently, so he'll be right on the edge I'm sure," Childress said.

The Vikings have signed LB Jeremy Leman from their practice squad and added CB DeAndre Wright to take his place on the squad.

Vikings TE Jimmy Kleinsasser caught two passes for 17 yards in Week 17 against the Giants. He was targeted just twice in the game.

Despite suffering migraine headaches throughout the week, Minnesota WR Percy Harvin participated in Sunday's 31-28 overtime loss against New Orleans. Harvin caught five passes for 38 yards and one costly fumble that seemingly turned the game in New Orleans' favor early in the fourth quarter.

Minnesota WR Sidney Rice hauled four catches for 43 yards and a touchdown as Minnesota fell 31-28 to New Orleans on Sunday. Rice caught a five yard touchdown from Favre in the first quarter of the game. Rice finished out the season with seven touchdowns in his final four games.
