Derrick Burgess spent another day away from practice. For a change, no one seemed upset. Not even the linebacker whose chance for a starting job faded when the New England Patriots obtained Burgess, a strong pass rusher and two-time Pro Bowl player, from the Oakland Raiders. "You can't worry," Pierre Woods said Friday. "It's good that the guy's on the team. He's coming in to help and that's all that matters. We're trying to work together. We're trying to win games, and that's it." Coach Bill Belichick had been trying to fill the outside linebacker spot left vacant when he traded Mike Vrabel to the Kansas City Chiefs in February. Burgess held out of Oakland's training camp in hopes of forcing a trade. On Thursday, about four months after Belichick first talked to Raiders owner Al Davis about a deal for Burgess, the Patriots and the player joined forces. New England gave up undisclosed draft considerations that Belichick said should be determined in a few weeks. Burgess played left defensive end in Oakland's 4-3 alignment but figures to play linebacker in New England's 3-4.

New England listed several inactives for Week 1's Monday night game against the Bills. The following are inactive for the game: WR Julian Edelman, WR Matt Slater, CB Terrence Wheatley, RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis and DT Myron Pryor.

New England WR Wes Welker should not do nearly as well in Week 12 as he did in Week 11. Welker caught 15 passes for 192 yards against the Jets last weekend and faces New Orleans this Sunday. The Saints are actually worse against the pass, however. Welker has at least nine receptions five straight games.

The New England Patriots have signed rookie tight end Robbie Agnone to the practice squad. Terms of the deal were not disclosed Tuesday night. The Washington Redskins originally signed Agnone in April as a rookie free agent out of Delaware. He was waived by the Redskins during their final cuts. The 6-foot-6, 260-pound Agnone fills the remaining position on New England's eight-man practice squad. The team has already signed defensive linemen Titus Adams, Adrian Grady and Darryl Richard; offensive tackle Patrick Brown; wide receiver Terrence Nunn; quarterback Isaiah Stanback and cornerback DeAngelo Willingham.

The Patriots placed LB Shawn Crable on injured reserve for the second time in as many years.

Leigh Bodden had three of the four interceptions thrown by Mark Sanchez and the New England Patriots defense allowed just one touchdown and 226 yards in a 31-14 win over the Jets in Week 11. In the first half Sunday, Bodden returned an interception 53 yards for the game's first touchdown. He also had three tackles in the game.

New England WR Randy Moss has a caught at least one touchdown pass the last three times he's faced the New Orleans Saints, his Week 12 opponents. The last game he played against them, however, came back in 2004. Moss, however, is as good as ever with seven touchdown catches in his last five games for the Patriots. He's gone over 129 yards receiving in three of his last five as well.

Patriots RB Kevin Faulk totaled two carries for 4 yards during a Week 11 win against the Jets. He also had four catches for 53 yards. His longest catch went for 25 yards. Unfortunately, he did not score.

Patriots defensive end Mike Wright could get more playing time after Jarvis Green reportedly underwent knee surgery that is expected to sideline him for at least one game. Green reportedly had surgery during the Patriots bye week after starting all seven games this season, according to Comcast SportsNet. Wright leads New England with four sacks, and his role in his fifth season with the team increased when Richard Seymour was traded to Oakland before the opener.

According to The Sports Xchange, the Patriots have made some moves to their practice squad. The team re-signed CB Antwain Spann to the practice squad and released DB Gemara Williams. The Patriots also placed TE Jason Rader on the practice squad reserve injured list.

The Patriots have listed the following players as inactive for Week 9 vs. Miami: WR Julian Edelman, RB Fred Taylor, RB Sammy Morris, CB Jonathan Wilhite and LB Eric Alexander.

Patriots RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis totaled five carries for 10 yards during a Week 11 win against the Jets. His longest carry went 4 yards. He has just six carries for 17 yards in his last three games.

The Patriots signed sixth-round draft choice LS Jake Ingram on Wednesday. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Ingram was drafted by the Patriots out of Hawaii with the first of their two sixth-round selections (198th overall). The Patriots also released DB Jamar Love.

New England QB Tom Brady (right shoulder) was able to practice in full all week and is listed as probable for the team's Week 12 game at New Orleans.

He finished with a team-high 77 yards on 22 carries. His longest gainer went 14 yards. Maroney has six touchdowns in his last five games.

Vinny Testaverde re-signed with the New England Patriots on Saturday for his 21st NFL season. The move was expected once the Patriots completed two-a-day practice sessions last week. The 43-year-old quarterback signed with New England last Nov. 14 and played in three regular-season games, including the finale in which he extended his streak to 20 seasons with at least one touchdown pass. The Patriots also released safety Artrell Hawkins, cornerback Gemara Williams and linebacker Kyle Bissinger.
