Saints DL Anthony Hargrove scored the first touchdown of his career Week 9 against the Panthers, returning a fumble 1 yard for the score in the fourth quarter. He finished with three solo tackles, a forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

The Saints released/terminated WR Adrian Arrington, CB Danny Gorrer, WR Skyler Green, DT Earl Heyman, RB P.J. Hill, TE Martrez Milner, DT DeMario Pressley, WR Courtney Roby, WR Matt Simon, LB Anthony Waters, QB Joey Harrington and DE Paul Spicer on Saturday.

Saints LB Scott Fujita was the lone injury coming away from the Giants game as he sustained a strained calf. Fujita said he was going to have an MRI on Monday, but coach Sean Payton said the injury shouldn't linger. If Fujita can't play this week against the Dolphins, LB Troy Evans would likely replace Fujita in the starting lineup. Evans took Fujita's place Sunday and Payton said Evans filled Fujita's role well.

Saints DB Roman Harper (hamstring) is listed as probable for Week 3 at Buffalo. Harper has taken limited practice reps Thursday and Friday but is not expected to miss Sunday's game.

Sean Payton brought fullback Heath Evans to the Saints with the aim of gaining versatility on the field and leadership in the locker room. The Saints will have to settle for the latter for the rest of this season. The Saints placed Evans on injured reserve, Payton said Thursday, because of a season-ending anterior cruciate ligament tear that occurred in last Sunday's comeback victory in Miami. "That's tough," quarterback Drew Brees said. "Heath was not only a real productive player, but he's an awesome guy - an awesome locker room guy, great for that running backs room. Heath was just a real good influence on everybody," Brees continued. "He has told me that he wants to be around as much as possible. ... Hopefully he will be around and I know he will be."

Knee - IR. Out for the season

Saints RB Pierre Thomas had 13 carries for 50 yards and five catches for 31 yards against the Panthers in Week 9, scoring on 10-yard run in the third quarter. He now has six touchdowns in his last six games.

Free-agent safety Pierson Prioleau has agreed to terms with the New Orleans Saints, who were looking to add depth in the defensive backfield. The 5-foot-10, 188-pound safety has played 10 years with the San Francisco 49ers, Buffalo Bills, Washington Redskins and the Jacksonville Jaguars. Prioleau played all 16 games with the Jaguars last season, starting once.

The Colts announced their eight-man practice squad: QB Josh Betts, RB Decori Birmingham, WRs Aaron Brown and Trent Shelton and TE Gijon Robinson were among the eight.

The Saints have added rookie quarterback Chase Daniel to the team's practice squad. The Saints also announced Sunday the team signed seven other players to the practice squad, including two 2008 draft choices - wide receiver Adrian Arrington and defensive tackle DeMario Pressley. The other players signed to the Saints' practice squad on Sunday include running back P.J. Hill, guard Tim Duckworth, wide receiver Matt Simon, cornerback Danny Gorrer and tackle Jermey Parnell.

Notable inactives from the Saints-Buccaneers Week 13 game include: Saints QB Joey Harrington, DB David Pittman, WR David Patten, RB Mike Bell, FB Mike Karney and LB Marvin Mitchell. For the Buccaneers, QBs Brian Griese and Josh Johnson, WR Dexter Jackson, RB Noah Herron, DB Donte Nicholson, LB Matt McCoy and DL Greg Peterson are inactive.

New Orleans DB Randall Gay (heel) was able to play in the team's first preseason game against the Bengals. He made three tackles in the game.

Saints DL Will Smith, who recorded two sacks last week, picked up two more Week 9 against the Panthers. He also forced a fumble, finishing with four tackles, including one solo.

The Saints placed rookie DB Chip Vaughn on injured reserve Saturday with a torn meniscus in his left knee.

Saints K John Carney, who continues to handle the placekicking duties even with Garrett Hartley on the roster, topped 10 points for only the second time in six games Week 9 against the Panthers. He hit all three of his field-goal attempts, including a long of 40 yards, and both of his extra-point attempts.

Saints rookie linebacker Stanley Arnoux finally signed his rookie deal on Monday, then was placed on injured reserve. He ruptured his left Achilles' tendon during a rookie minicamp practice this offseason.

Saints QB Drew Brees threw for 330 yards against the Panthers in Week 9, giving him 300 in three of his last four games with an average of 326.3 during that stretch. He completed 24 of 35 passes with one touchdown -- a 54-yarder to Robert Meachem in the third quarter -- and one interception. He also ran two times for 4 yards and lost a fumble.

In the Saints' 23-20 loss at the Buccaneers in Week 13, notable Saints defenders included: LB Scott Shanle (10 total tackles, sack), DE Bobby McCray (two solo tackles, two sacks), LB Scott Fujita and DE Will Smith (eight total tackles each) and LB Jonathan Vilma (seven total tackles, sack, two forced fumbles).

Saints DB Darren Sharper recorded his seventh interception Week 8 against the Falcons, leaping high to snag a desperation heave by QB Matt Ryan late in the fourth quarter. Saints WR Devery Henderson caught three passes for 93 yards Week 9 against the Panthers. He hadn't contributed that many yards since he had 103 in Week 1. He also had one rushing attempt for minus-3 yardds.

onathan Vilma needed one season in New Orleans to resurrect his career. Coming back from major knee surgery, he played every defensive snap at middle linebacker in 2008, leading the team with 151 tackles to go with two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and a game-sealing interception. Vilma understands he'll be challenged to top those numbers in his second season with the Saints, but said he's trying not to worry about his own statistics. His play-making ability is no longer in question at this point. What the Saints need him to do now is become the "quarterback" of a defensive unit that struggled last season, even while Vilma thrived individually. "The personal goals, I try not to really worry about," Vilma said after a recent practice. "It's really about the team goals and trying to be a better leader, trying to be a better communicator, trying to make sure that the defense is in the top tier and people start mentioning the Saints defense - and doing things bigger than just myself."

Saints WR Robert Meachem, getting to start with Lance Moore sidelined by an ankle injury, led the team with 98 yards on five catches Week 9 against the Panthers. He also scored a touchdown on a 54-yard pass from QB Drew Brees in the third quarter.

The Jacksonville Jaguars waived four rookies and placed rookie cornerback Don Carey on injured reserve to set their roster at 75 players. The following players were waived: tight end Tyler Lorenzen, defensive tackle Jervonte Jackson and wide receivers Clarence Denmark and Maurice Dupree.

Saints LB Scott Shanie had a good game in Week 7 at Miami. He recovered a fumble and made seven tackles in the 46-34 victory.

The New Orleans Saints have placed defensive tackle Kendrick Clancy on injured reserve with a knee injury and signed defensive tackle DeMario Pressley from the practice squad to the active roster.

Rod Coleman's NFL comeback bid is on hold. The 10-year veteran defensive lineman was among three cuts made by the New Orleans Saints on Monday as the club trimmed its roster to 75, the maximum for the final week of the preseason. The Saints also waived cornerback Greg Fassitt and receiver D'Juan Woods, who both had been injured recently. Fassitt hurt his hamstring during Saturday's exhibition game at Oakland, while Woods missed the last two preseason games with a neck injury.

Saints WR Marques Colston caught just one pass for 45 yards Week 9 against the Panthers. He struggled with drops all day, none bigger than on what looked like a go-ahead touchdown late in the third quarter. The Saints had to settle for a field goal.

Saints RB Mike Bell, who had split carries nearly 50-50 with Pierre Thomas over the last few weeks, had only five for 17 yards against the Panthers in Week 9. Thomas had 13 carries for 50 yards.

Saints RB Reggie Bush again didn't put up many yard Week 9 against the Panthers, but he did finish with a season-high seven catches for 37 yards. He also had two catches for 16 yards. His streak of three straight games with a touchdown came to an end.

The New Orleans Saints placed tight end Dan Campbell on injured reserve Monday, ending the 11-year veteran's season. Campbell had played in only three games in the past two seasons because of various injuries and had missed the past week of practice because of a nagging right knee injury. Campbell had arthroscopic surgery about six weeks before training camp to repair a medial collateral ligament. Saints coach Sean Payton said that the knee continued to bother him. The Saints signed Campbell to a free-agent contract in February. Payton was familiar with the tight end, who he had coached when he was an offensive assistant with the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys. "He was just battling through that knee and we weren't really seeing the progress," Payton said. "I think he was a little frustrated, as well, but he's been a pretty special player in my mind and a guy that really brought some toughness."

Saints DL Remi Ayodele had only two solo tackles Week 4 against the Jets, but his biggest contribution came in the second quarter when he fell on a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown.
