According to the Oakland Raiders official team site, they have added international player and defensive tackle Mauricio Lopez, who will spend the entire 2008 season with the Silver and Black as part of the NFL International Practice Squad Program.

The Oakland Raiders have signed linebacker Morlon Greenwood and cut defensive end Derrick Gray. The move announced Sunday gives the Raiders more depth at linebacker with Jon Alston nursing a foot injury and Isaiah Ekejiuba slowed by a dislocated shoulder.

Michael Huff is finally turning into the big-play safety the Oakland Raiders expected when they drafted him seventh overall in 2006. After struggling his first three years and losing his starting job, Huff has emerged early in his fourth season. He has intercepted three passes and recovered a fumble in the first two games for the Raiders, which is amazing since he had only one interception and one fumble recovery in the first 48 games of his career. Huff credits increased film study and working with Pro Bowl cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha for his success. Coach Tom Cable says he sees a much more confident player than the one he benched midway though last season.

The Sports Xchange reports that the Raiders signed RB Quinton Smith to the practice squad to replace Kelly Talavou, who was signed last week but whose contract was nullified by the league.

Raiders RB Justin Fargas, WR Todd Watkins, DB Stanford Routt, TE Ben Troupe and QB Marques Tuiasosopo have all been ruled inactive for Week 4 vs. San Diego.

Raiders RB Justin Fargas, again playing a big role on offense with Darren McFadden sidelined by a knee injury, had 18 carries for 59 yards and three catches for 20 yards Week 8 at San Diego. He also scored his first touchdown on a 3-yard run in the second quarter.

Raiders rookie WR Darrius Heyward-Bey had one catch for 10 yards at San Diego in Week 8. He has just five catches all season.

"He seemed very much to be in control today," coach Tom Cable said. "A couple throws he'd probably like to have over again, but for the most part he gave us a chance to win today."

Raiders CB Nnamdi Asomugha will play against the Jets but will wear a shield on his helmet to protect his injured right eye, coach Tom Cable said. Asomugha was poked in the eye Sunday against the Eagles and missed most of the game. Cable said he might miss practice Wednesday. "If we had to go out and work tomorrow, they said he could go, so we should be fine."

Raiders DL Trevor Scott, who had five sacks as a rookie last year, recorded his first two of the season Week 6 against the Eagles. He finished with three solo tackles.

The Raiders brought back kick returner Justin Miller and placed defensive back John Bowie on injured reserve with a knee injury. Miller was among the last cuts before the season. Miller joined the Raiders halfway through last season and returned two kicks for touchdowns, averaging 24.8 yards per return. Oakland is averaging 19.3 yards per return this season. Miller also plays defensive back.
