The Steelers have announced the following players as inactive for Week 12 at Baltimore: QB Ben Roethlisberger, QB Charlie Batch, DB Keenan Lewis, DB Troy Polamalu, DL Ra'Shon Harris and DL Nick Eason.

The Steelers announced the addition of veteran LB Rocky Boiman and CB Corey Ivy to their active roster. To make room for these guys, the team released second-year LB Don0van Woods and sixth-year CB Keiwan Ratliff.

Santonio Holmes' streak of consecutive games with a touchdown against the Ravens seemed to be in jeopardy when the Steelers announced Dennis Dixon as their starter. But Holmes had other plans -- he caught six passes for 74 yards including a 33-yard touchdown haul from Dixon at Baltimore in Week 12. Holmes has now scored in six straight games against the Ravens, totaling seven touchdowns.

Steelers LB Lawrence Timmons (ankle) and DE Travis Kirschke (calf) did not practice Monday. Coach Mike Tomlin said he's more optimistic about Timmons' injury than Kirschke's. Kirschke replaced injured DE Aaron Smith in the starting lineup three weeks ago. DE Nick Eason, who was inactive for four of the first five games, and rookie DE Ziggy Hood, who averages only six plays a game, would take Kirschke's place if he can't play against Denver in Week 9.

Steelers DB Ike Taylor totaled two assisted tackles and one interception during a Week 14 win against the Cowboys. It was his first pick of the season.

Pittsburgh released RB Isaac Redman on Monday. They brought back DE Nick Eason.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said on Tuesday that safety Troy Polamalu (left knee) is "questionable, at best" for Week 12 at Baltimore. Polamalu has a knee sprain that is expected to keep him sidelined for another game or two. Tyrone Carter is expected to start in his place.

One big reason for the low production: Third-string QB Dennis Dixon was under center and he completed only 12 of 26 passes. Miller was targeted four times. Another reason for the bad game: Miller was asked to help block more than go out for passes. And a third reason: The Ravens defend against opposing tight ends very well.

Pittsburgh DL Casey Hampton (knee) was able to play in the team's first preseason game on Thursday against Arizona. He recorded one tackle in the game.

Coach Tony Dungy has ruled running back Dominic Rhodes out of Sunday's regular-season finale vs. Tennessee. He likely would have played if it were a playoff game, but Dungy wants them to rest. "Dom's down a little bit, so he's definitely out of this game," Dungy said. Signs point to Joseph Addai playing (Dungy said that he's ready), but he'll be limited. Chad Simpson and Najeh Davenport will split whatever carries Addai doesn't pick up.

The Steelers signed WR Marvin Allen as part of the NFL International Practice Squad Program. He is expected to be on the practice squad all season.

Deshea Townsend scored on a 26-yard interception return with 1:40 remaining as the Pittsburgh Steelers scored their only two touchdowns 24 seconds apart to rally from a 10-point deficit in the fourth quarter and deal the Dallas Cowboys a potentially damaging loss, winning 20-13 Week 14. On second-and-8 from the Cowboys 17, tight end Jason Witten ran the wrong pass route, allowing Townsend to step in front of the pass for the fifth turnover forced by Pittsburgh's league-leading defense. Townsend finished with three tackles.
