Steelers LB Lawrence Timmons (ankle) and DE Travis Kirschke (calf) did not practice Monday. Coach Mike Tomlin said he's more optimistic about Timmons' injury than Kirschke's. Kirschke replaced injured DE Aaron Smith in the starting lineup three weeks ago. DE Nick Eason, who was inactive for four of the first five games, and rookie DE Ziggy Hood, who averages only six plays a game, would take Kirschke's place if he can't play against Denver in Week 9.

Clark nearly died following a game in Denver two years ago because of a rare blood disorder that is aggravated by playing in high altitude. Clark had his spleen and gall bladder removed during separate operations and he lost 30 pounds after the Oct. 21, 2007, game in Invesco Field that ended his season. Many of Clark's teammates told him he should skip this game.

On second-and-8 from the Cowboys 17, tight end Jason Witten ran the wrong pass route, allowing Townsend to step in front of the pass for the fifth turnover forced by Pittsburgh's league-leading defense.
