Rams WR Brandon Lloyd capped off his season with a big game, hauling in six passes for 100 yards in a Week 17 loss to the 49ers. Lloyd played an important part in the Rams' late rally, as he scored on a 36-yard pass from QB Kellen Clemens with under five minutes left in the game. It marked the first time since Week 12 that Lloyd scored a touchdown, and it was the first time all season that he scored and gained 100 or more yards in a single game.

The Rams hired Brian Schottenheimer to be their offensive coordinator, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. That means QB Sam Bradford will work in his third offense in as many seasons. Schottenheimer's playbook is a variation of his father, Marty's, which was born under the principles of Don Coryell's pass-attack scheme that involved lots of shifts, formations and deep plays. In 2011, the Chargers and Ravens ran similar offenses.

That should help Jackson heading into 2012. "I think he's the perfect coach for a guy who wants to win," Jackson said. "He brings running and an attitude to the way you play the game, all the things I believe in. And what makes this hire so exciting is that coach Fisher has been a head coach in this league. Not to take anything away from (former Rams coaches Steve) Spagnuolo or (Scott) Linehan, who were very good at what they did. They were very good play callers on offense and defense. But being a head coach brings on another element to the game and coach Fisher has that experience."

Rams DB Ron Bartell, who suffered a fractured bone in his lower neck, confirmed to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that he is out for the season. "My goal is to play again," Bartell said. "I'm fully prepared to play again. I'm approaching it as such that I will play again. There's absolutely no way I could come back and play this year. It takes time just for the bone to heal." Justin King is now expected to move into the starting lineup to replace Bartell.

After the game, Clemens told reporters that X-rays on his ankle were negative. Filling in for Sam Bradford (ankle), Clemens completed 14 of 31 passes for 226 yards with an interception, and he also tossed a 36-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Lloyd. Clemens also ran the ball twice for 18 yards, and he scored on a first-quarter rushing touchdown.
