Tight end Matthew Mulligan has been signed by the Rams, where he will rejoin former Jets offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, who holds that position in St. Louis.

The Rams waived tight end Demarco Cosby, defensive tackle John Henderson, cornerbacks Nate Ness and Chris Smith and running back Quinn Porter.

Rams coach Jeff Fisher said Wednesday that wide receiver Danario Alexander didn't participate in an OTA practice because of a sore hamstring. There's no timetable on when he'll return to work. Alexander says he's focused on playing 16 games and welcomes the competition the team has added at receiver. "I'm looking forward to a lot of competition," said the 6-foot-5, 217-pound Alexander. "We're in the heat of the battle and we just have to separate ourselves. It keeps you driving and keeps you motivated. That's part of the NFL. You're always going to have new competition coming in."

Rams WR Greg Salas had a plate inserted to repair his fractured fibula on Thursday and also had some work done to repair his ankle, according to the team. Salas sustained the injury during Week 9 when an Arizona defender landed on his leg late in the fourth quarter. He has been put on the inured reserve list and will miss the remainder of the season.

The Rams signed LB K.C. Asiodu, TE Eric Butler, DE Ian Campbell, LB Dominic Douglas, CB Cord Parks and WR Sean Walker to the practice squad on Sunday.

Rams DL Chris Long was listed as active for Week 17 against San Francisco. He had been on the injury report with an ankle injury.

Rams quarterback Sam Bradford said his left ankle, injured in October at Green Bay, is nearly 100 percent. "It's getting there," he said. "It feels better every week -- less soreness, more things I can do. It's definitely on the right track."

St. Louis signed LB Justin Cole off of the Kansas City practice squad on Tuesday. With both DB Al Harris and TE Michael Hoomanawanui headed to injured reserve with ACL injuries, the Rams needed to add to their roster.

Rams DL Darell Scott (ankle) is likely to be doubtful for Sunday's game against the Redskins. "There's the next test to see how much it's open," coach Steve Spagnuolo said of Scott's high ankle sprain. "It'll give us a better indication of how long it's going to be."

Defensive tackle Trevor Laws tweeted Wednesday night that he has agreed to a deal with the Rams. Laws, 26, had 20 tackles and a sack in a reserve role for the Eagles last season. He's a former second-round pick in 2008. "To all my people from Philly I will miss ya... but its time for me to take this show to STL. #memories," he posted according to The Sports Xchange.

Defensive back Cortland Finnegan has reunited with his former (and now new) coach Jeff Fisher in St. Louis. Finnegan signed with the Rams on Tuesday.

The Rams picked wide receiver Chris Givens of Wake Forest in the fourth round of the 2012 NFL Draft. The 5-foot-11, 198-pound Givens amassed 2,473 receiving yards on 163 receptions in his career. Last season, Givens set a school single-season record with 1,330 yards on 83 passes and nine touchdowns. He also did work as a kick and punt returner.

To make room for WR Mark Clayton, the Rams placed CB Jerome Murphy (broken ankle) on IR on Thursday. They also signed DT Marlon Favorite, a former LSU standout who has previously been with the Patriots and Eagles this year.

Ankle - IR. Out for the season

Denver LB Mario Haggan returned an interception 16 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter during the Broncos' 35-32 victory over Minnesota in Week 13. Haggan was filling in for injured LB Von Miller (thumb) and notched the first interception of his career. He also finished with a game-high 12 tackles, including seven solo stops.

Rams WR Brandon Gibson did not see many passes thrown his way in Week 14 against the Seahawks. He was targeted just once by QB Sam Bradford, making the grab for 6 yards in the 30-13 loss.

Linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar tweeted that he has signed with the Rams, The Sports Xchange says. The former Boston College star is a versatile playmaker who saw time at all three linebacker spots during his time with the Saints.

The Rams released linebacker David Nixon and wide receiver Nick Miller, who was facing a four-game suspension for using performance-enhancing drugs. The team also did not offer a tender to restricted free agent defensive end C.J. Ah You.

The Rams have placed RB Brit Miller (knee) on injured reserve, a move coach Steve Spagnuolo alluded to on Tuesday. To fill Miller’s roster spot, the team re-signed DB Nate Ness, who was released on Dec. 6. Miller injured his knee on Friday while warming up for practice.

Knee - IR. Out for the season

The Rams got some much-needed running back talent to stack behind starter Steven Jackson when they took Cincinnati rusher Isaiah Pead in the 2012 NFL Draft. Using exceptional bursts of straightaway speed, he ran well and started 26 of his 44 games, carried 545 times for 3,288 yards (6.03 per carry) and 27 touchdowns and caught 87 passes for 721 yards. If that wasn't enough to convince scouts, he put on a show of footwork at the Senior Bowl, including punt returns of 60 and 38 yards. At the scouting combine he validated his athleticism with a 40-yard time of 4.47 seconds and a vertical jump of 33 inches.

Rams DB Josh Gordy recorded his third interception of the year in Week 16 against the Steelers. He picked off QB Charlie Batch in the second quarter and finished with three tackles in the 27-0 loss.

The Colts announced on Monday that TE Brody Eldridge (hand) could play Sunday against Carolina. Eldridge suffered a broken bone against Atlanta two games ago. He saw light work in Monday's practice. "Brody is still making real good progress, and his status is such where it will be day-to-day," Jim Caldwell said.

New Rams coach Jeff Fisher said in an interview with CBSSports.com that he's expecting new receiver Steve Smith to play well in St. Louis. The former Giants and Eagles receiver agreed to a one-year deal with the Rams in March. "He had a Pro Bowl year in 2009," Fisher said. "He was very productive. He’s a first-class young man. He overcame a difficult situation with his knee. We felt like his knee was in great shape. We worked him out, and he has a chance to get back to where he was in 2009." Smith caught 107 passes for 1,220 yards and seven touchdowns in 15 starts in 2009 but has 59 catches for 653 yards and four touchdowns in eight starts (18 total games) since.

Knee - Questionable for start of training camp

The St. Louis Rams selected running back Daryl Richardson of Abilene Christian (not Alabama running back Trent Richardson) with their second pick in the seventh round of the NFL Draft. The 5-foot-11, 200-pound Richardson is the brother of former Abilene Christian running back Bernard Scott, who now plays for the Bengals, and former Abilene Christian receiver Clyde Gates, who now plays for the Dolphins. As a senior, Richardson rushed for 867 yards, including a long run of 75 yards. He averaged 5.9 yards per carry and scored 11 touchdowns. Richardson also caught 40 passes for 371 yards and two touchdowns. Richardson is also looking forward to learning from Rams RB Steven Jackson. “It's just a blessing to get the opportunity and even just to get to play with Steven Jackson because he is a top performance running back,” Richardson said.

Rams DB Bradley Fletcher (knee) was placed on injured reserve Monday.

Knee - IR. Out for the season

The Rams spent the first pick of the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft on Appalachian State wide receiver Brian Quick. Measuring at 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, Quick is the school's all-time leader in receptions (202), receiving yards (3,418) and touchdown catches (31). Last season was his best with 71 catches, 1,096 yards and 11 scores.

St. Louis coach Steve Spagnuolo said TE Michael Hoomanawanui will miss the remainder of the season after being placed on injured reserve with a torn ACL. Hoomanawanui suffered the injury during the third quarter of the Rams' win over Cleveland in Week 10.

Achilles - IR. Out for the season

St. Louis placed DB Brian Jackson on injured reserve Saturday while activating DB Marquis Johnson from the PUP list. Jackson signed with the Rams earlier this month after the team placed DB Bradley Fletcher (knee) on IR.

Undisclosed - IR. Out for the season

The Rams announced the signing of defensive lineman Kendall Langford on Saturday night. "Kendall is a big, physical player who will be a great addition to our defensive line," coach Jeff Fisher said of the 6-foot-6, 295-pounder who spent four years in Miami. "He's tough and he always plays hard. We're excited about what he’ll bring to the rotation up front."

St. Louis DL Robert Quinn made another sack in Week 11 versus Seattle. He finished the game with five solo tackles.

Placekicker Josh Brown was among five players waived by the Rams on Tuesday. Rookie Greg Zuerlein from Missouri Western was drafted in the sixth round and is expected to get a shot to kick for the Rams. Zuerlein set a NCAA record with 21 consecutive field goals last season, including nine from 50 yards or more.

Rams WR Dominique Curry injured his shoulder during the Week 12 loss to the Cardinals. Curry did not make a catch in the game and was used only on special teams. The injury is not considered serious.

For the first time this season, Rams QB Tom Brandstater got into a game, as he took snaps during the team's final possession during a Week 17 loss to the 49ers. Starter Kellen Clemens, filling in for the injured Sam Bradford (ankle), left the contest with an ankle injury, and Brandstater finished out the drive. He did not complete either of his two pass attempts.

The NFL suspended Rams WR Austin Pettis four games on Wednesday for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances.

Suspension - 4-game suspension. Eligible to return Week 3 of 2012 season

New Rams coach Jeff Fisher said in an interview with CBSSports.com that he's looking forward to seeing what second-year tight end Lance Kendricks can do in 2012. "Lance played well last year," Fisher said. "Lance learned a lot of football last year. He can get open, he can make plays. He can do some things. We’re kind of looking forward to getting him involved in this offense."

St. Louis signed TE Mike McNeill off Indianapolis’ practice squad on Tuesday to take the roster spot of LB Josh Hull, who was placed on injured reserve with an ankle injury.

LB James Laurinitis was in his customary position atop the tackles standings for the Rams in a Week 17 loss to the 49ers. He led the team with nine tackles, finishing the season with 142.

The St. Louis Rams added a big body to the defensive line by taking LSU defensive tackle Michael Brockers with the 14th overall pick in the NFL draft. Brockers, a 21-year-old sophomore, had just two sacks in his lone year as a starter but blocked a field goal in the BCS championship game, and the Rams believe he has pass-rush potential going forward. Brockers started all 14 games at left tackle last season, helping the Tigers rank second in the nation in total defense with a 261.5-yards per game average. LSU also was second in the nation at points allowed with just 11 per game. "I know a lot of work has to be done," he said. "But I'm going to put a lot of hard work into this. I'm a professional now."

The Rams released TE Ben Guidugli from the practice squad on Tuesday.

To get down to the league-mandated 53-man roster, the Ravens parted ways with the following players: DT Nader Abdallah, FB Jason Cook, TE Davon Drew, LB Tony Fein, WR Yamon Figurs, WR Jayson Foster, K Graham Gano, S K.J. Gerard, WR Justin Harper, CB Evan Oglesby, RB Cedric Peerman, OT Joe Reitz, WR Eron Riley, TE Isaac Smolko, LB William VanDeSteeg and WR Ernie Wheelwright. DT Will Johnson reached an injury settlement with the team and also was jettisoned.

The Jacksonville Jaguars waived linebacker Adam Seward and signed two players to their practice squad who had been with the team previously. Linebacker Lamar Myles and defensive end James Wyche were signed to the practice squad today.

St. Louis LB Josh Hull was placed on injured reserve Tuesday after suffering a serious ankle injury in Week 15 against Cincinnati. Hull left the locker room Sunday in a walking boot.

Two team officials told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that if Steven Jackson wanted a new contract, it was news to them. Furthermore, the officials said there's no truth to the rumors that the team is looking to trade Jackson. Coach Jeff Fisher also addressed Jackson's situation. "Steven is here," Fisher said. "He’s in the offseason program, he’s upstairs every other day. He’s doing great, having fun learning the offense. No discussion, conversation or anything along that sort to my knowledge.” Jackson also isn't on the trade block, according to Fisher. "We talk about the potential ways of improving the roster, but his name has not been floated out there and I don’t know where it’s coming from," Fisher said.

St. Louis DB Quintin Mikell registered a team-high 10 tackles, including eight solo stops, during the Rams' 20-13 loss to Cincinnati in Week 15. Mikell also tallied a pass defended for the second time over the past three games for St. Louis.

New Rams coach Jeff Fisher said in an interview with CBSSports.com that he isn't sure if receiver Danny Amendola will be ready for OTA workouts in late April. Amendola suffered a dislocated elbow in Week 1 and ultimately missed the 2011 season. "I’ve seen Danny several times in the training room," Fisher said. "He’s doing well in the weight room. He may not be 100 percent cleared to go on the field for the third week in April, but it will be very close." Amendola remains a restricted free agent, and he would prefer to remain with the Rams long-term.

Elbow, triceps - Probable for start of training camp

The Colts released K Garrett Lindholm on Saturday. Lindholm had not been a factor in the team's first three preseason game.

The Jets signed WR Michael Campbell, DB Julian Posey and TE Martell Webb to the practice squad on Tuesday.

The Redskins cut down to the league-mandated 53 layers on Saturday. Among the released hopefuls were WR Isaac Anderson, LB Horatio Blades, NT Anthony Bryant, QB Kellen Clemens, TE Tony Curtis, RB Shaun Draughn, LB Thaddeus Gibson, QB Matt Gutierrez, S Chris Horton, LB Edgar Jones, CB Reggie Jones, WR Aldrick Robinson, S Anderson Russell, TE Derek Schouman, S Davonte Shannon, DE Jeff Stehle and DE Doug Worthington.

As expected, the Rams have officially placed DT Jermelle Cudjo (back) on IR. Cudjo, an undrafted rookie in 2010 who played in 10 games last year, has had been unable to shake a nagging injury this summer and had not practiced in nearly three weeks.

Titans DE William Hayes (shoulder) is expected to return to practice Wednesday after missing Sunday’s win vs. the Ravens, coach Mike Munchak said Monday.

The Saints made a flurry of moves Tuesday to get down to an 80-player roster. They waived/injured LB Erza Butler and RB Chris Taylor. They released DL Alex Brown, while also waiving WR John Chiles, FB Kolby Hurt and DB Mark Parson.
