Ravens, Texans will continue to pursue Reed at owners' meetings

The Ravens and Texans will continue their pursuits of Ed Reed at the NFL owners' meetings next week, according to league sources.

Both clubs, including their ownership groups, are expected to meet with the future Hall of Fame safety's agent, David Dunn, during the sessions scheduled for Monday through Wednesday in Arizona.

Reed left his visit in Houston with an offer but continues to assess his market value and is fielding calls from other interested teams as well, though no formal visits have been set up. The Ravens remain very interested in his services, with coaches and team officials reaching out to him, and the Ravens will continue those efforts next week.

Determining market value at this stage of his career could be tricky, and some believe a deal in the range of $5 million per year might be a fair range in this case. After losing many key veterans, the Ravens are making Reed a priority, sources said. Money should come into better focus at the meetings.

With all teams gathered in Arizona next week, the free-agent visit circuit will be on hold until coaches and execs get back from the meetings on Wednesday, by and large. A deal for Reed could easily come together during the meetings.
