With Hasselbeck gone, Titans expected to pursue Jason Campbell

With Matt Hasselbeck released, the Titans are expected to pursue Jason Campbell, according to a team source.

The Titans are in the market for a new back-up to Jake Locker, and, are considering Jason Campbell for that role. Campbell, who the Bears want to return to be the No. 2 to Jay Cutler, has also drawn interest from the Browns and Jets, sources said.

Campbell has been a positive influence on teammates, is very well liked, and while he has the ability to push Locker, has an accommodating and helpful demeanor. He can engender competition in a non-abrasive way and fits much of what the Titans are looking for.

Tennessee cut Hasselbeck after the sides could not agree on a pay cut. The Jaguars are also among the teams looking for back-up quarterbacks, as are the Bengals, though many expected former Bills starter Ryan Fitzpatrick to end up there as a back-up to Andy Dalton.
