Former Cowboys DT Jay Ratliff to visit Dolphins next

Former Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jay Ratliff's next visit is with the Dolphins, according to a league source.

Ratliff, who was released by the Cowboys after a lengthy injury to his groin area, has spent time with the Chiefs and Bears already.

Ratliff did not play a down under his new contract, which kicked in this season and included $18 million guaranteed. His tenure with the Cowboys became more fractured following his DUI arrest in January.

He is still recovering from a neck injury but after an original diagnosis that he could not play this season, he is now perhaps on his way back. He is not yet fully cleared and thus is not working out for teams, but he could at least be able to practice in a matter of weeks, if not sooner.

Ratliff was a standout 3-4 nose tackle for much of his stay with the Cowboys though he and the team are at odds over the specifics of his injury and his ability to play, and there could be a grievance coming from the team, especially if Ratliff does suit up elsewhere this season.

The chance to play for a contending team could sway things. The Chiefs have stud tackle Dontari Poe in place but could use reinforcements, while the Bears have suffered critical injuries already at the tackle spot.
