Seahawks to closely monitor Percy Harvin's snaps against Vikings

Seattle receiver Percy Harvin will make his season debut on Sunday, sources said, after missing the entire season to this point recovering from offseason hip surgery. Harvin, listed as probable, will play according to team and league sources, with the club establishing a plan to work him back gradually and at this point he will not be playing a normal role.

Harvin has not played a football game in a year and the Seahawks very much look at this is a long-term investment, having trading multiple high picks for Harvin, and then making him the third-highest paid receiver in the NFL. The multi-faceted weapon -- who can line up at multiple receiver positions as well as tailback and shine in the return game -- will have his snaps closely monitored with the Seahawks building up his workload.

Seattle has a bye following its game against Minnesota, where Harvin spent his career prior to the trade. The team feels good about his ability to play and not aggravate his injury, but wants to be smart about how they approach the situation given how much time Harvin has missed, knowing they have a bye looming, and cognizant of the fact they already were in line for the NFC's top overall seed even without having Harvin to this point.
