Seahawks receiver Percy Harvin will miss another game this weekend, while still dealing with issues related to his preseason hip surgery, but remains on target to play again this season, according to sources with knowledge of the situation.

Harvin actually managed to return from hip surgery well ahead of schedule last month, but played only about 15 snaps in his first game back and has not played since. The Seahawks had a bye and then he missed last week's game against New Orleans. He will not face the 49ers Sunday, either, sources said. But the moves are also being made with an eye toward the playoffs and the Seahawks have not discussed shutting him down for the year and believe he will be back at some point in what they hope will be a long playoff run.

Harvin's hip remains sore and at this point the risk/reward in having him available does not make sense, but structurally, everything remains intact and there is no medical reason to assume he will not be back. The Seahawks, who have always prized the long-view in this situation dating back to July, want him to be totally comfortable when he does come back and are working closely with him in his recovery. But considering they could lock up the top seed in the NFC shortly, and are headed to a first-round bye, the team will use that to its advantage in this case and it could be that Harvin is not back until the postseason. But there remains a strong degree of confidence he will be back, with one source telling me he would be “shocked” if Harvin is not back on the field again this season.
