NFLPA opposes Louisiana bill that would curtail worker's comp benefits

DeMaurice Smith plans to fight worker's compensation legislation in Louisiana.

Smith, the head of the NFLPA, said Wednesday that two lobbyists for the Saints helped get a bill introduced in the state that would "target" professional athletes in Louisiana and would curtail their ability to gain worker's comp benefits.

The Saints have declined to comment on the matter.

Smith said the legislation was introduced Wednesday and came as a surprise to the union but they fully intend to fight it.
