2014 NFL Draft: Expect four more quarterbacks to go in Day 2

Draft coverage: Draft picks and grades | Prospect Rankings | Mock drafts | News

Well, three quarterbacks wasn't bad. I thought four. But one is going 33rd, so four in the first 33 picks is pretty good. So much for the quarterbacks crumbling.

On Day 2, Houston, Arizona and Oakland are among the teams that could still jump on a passer.

Derek Carr and Tom Savage are two of the quarterbacks who would make sense for the Texans and what Bill O'Brien looks for. I expect AJ McCarron to go pretty high Friday as well and at least four more passers to go in the second round.

Also, Jimmy Garoppolo of Eastern Illinois is thought of very highly by several teams (if the Browns waited through the first round entirely I believe he may have been their pick down lower), and he will be in play Friday for sure.

The Cardinals have been high on Carr, but would they have to move up to get him?

Oh and the possibility of a trade still exists as well. I hear that Robert Griffin III wouldn't exactly be crying in his cereal if Kirk Cousins was dealt. The opportunity to get a fourth-round pick from the Browns for him is gone with Johnny Football now in Cleveland, but if the Redskins are realistic about the asking price -- a second-round pick is too high -- then something might happen. Perhaps the Pats move Ryan Mallett as well.

There are a bunch of pass rushers all lumped together and as I expected, teams largely showed restraint in the first round, focusing on stronger positions like corner and receiver and offensive line. I get it.

Demarcus Lawrence, Jeremiah Attaochu and Kareem Martin are seen by several evaluators I trust as perhaps the best of that bunch, and I suspect they don't linger very long.

Teams with more picks than they can use will be looking to deal them -- San Francisco in particular -- and target specific players.

Oh, and offensive line will be major players on Day 2 as well. Joel Bitonio and Morgan Moses will be at the head of that group I suppose, after Cyrus Kouandjio. Some teams have concerns about his knee, but I hear the Redskins are comfortable with him and he is a DC-area kid who performed at a high level for a dominant team in the SEC. Pairing him with Trent Williams as they try to protect RG3 is imperative. Oh, and with Williams being in the drug program, it's great insurance too as Kouandjio could play either side.

OK, I'll definitely hit you guys up with more news and notes throughout the day Friday as we inch toward that 7 p.m. ET kickoff. Now, I need a beer and something to eat. Another long day ahead!
