Time for real officials to get a deal done

The officiating in the Cowboys-Giants game was far from perfect, but it wasn't bad considering the circumstances. I only hope that the rest of the games this weekend are as good or better.

Coaches keep their jobs based on wins and losses and officiating plays a big role in their fates. It's time for the real officials get a deal done. A large number of fans I communicate with via email or my radio show aren't sympathic with the officials looking for a better deal.

Pat Kirwan has been around the league since 1972, serving in a variety of roles. He was a scout for the Cardinals and Buccaneers, a coach for the Jets as well as the team's Director of Player Administration where he negotiated contracts and managed the team's salary cap. He is the author of Take Your Eye Off the Ball: How to Watch Football by Knowing Where to Look, and the host of Sirius NFL Radio's Moving the Chains.
