Week 4 NFL Top Picks: Home underdog Texans will beat Seahawks

The good news is I didn't have a losing week on my top picks in Week 3.

The bad news is I didn't have a winning week either.

I was 1-1-1, winning with the Colts (+11), losing with the Falcons (+2) and pushing with the Titans (+3).

So that's progress. After going 1-2 the first two weeks, I am now 3-5-1. Week 4 is when I think I will get it cranked up.

I feel a 3-0 coming on. So here are the picks.

Texans (+3) vs. Seahawks: I love spots where a team is coming home after a tough loss to play a team that is on the road after two home victories. That sets up well for the Texans. Seattle isn't quite the same team on the road, and I think Houston will get its running game going and take advantage of the Seahawks' aggressive defensive style. Look for a lot of stuff from the Texans with backs and tight ends slipping out against the flow of the defense. Houston wins it outright.

Broncos (-10½) vs. Eagles: I just can't see this Eagles defense, especially the secondary, slowing down Peyton Manning and his receivers. Look for the Broncos to get 38 or so on the scoreboard. The Eagles will score 20 to 23, which makes this a Denver victory with ease.

Lions (-3½) vs. Bears: Since the Bears beat the Steelers on Sunday night, I've said this was a game Chicago should be careful with. On the road against a division team can be a problem. Detroit's defensive front will get after Jay Cutler, which nobody has done yet this season. The Lions will find a way to cover here and get to 3-1.
