NFL Week 12, top three picks: Two favorites and a dog

When I first saw the hit that 49ers outside linebacker Ahamd Brooks put on Saints quarterback Drew Brees, I didn't think it was a foul. I am still not sure it was, but it was called and it negated a lost fumble by the Saints.

It also negated a chance for me to go 3-0 in my top picks last week for the first time this season. But I did go undefeated.

The Saints were favored by three and won by three, which means a push. I won my other two, which means a 2-0-1 week. That means the three-week record is 6-2-1. I will take it.

I've had great success picking underdogs the past three weeks, but this week I am taking two favorites and a dog.

Steelers (+2½) at Browns: I just don't have faith in Jason Campbell after watching him last week against the Bengals. Ben Roethlisberger seemed to get it cranked up last week against the Lions. That carries over. The Steelers' defense will show up and shut down Campbell and the Browns on offense.

Rams (-1½) vs. Bears: The Bears aren't very good on defense. And I just don't think Josh McCown is what others think he is as a quarterback. The Rams have a fierce pass rush that can get after the quarterback. I think the Rams will run it a bunch and find a way to pull this out by a field goal or so.

Lions (-9) vs. Buccaneers: Yes, the Bucs are playing better. But the Lions are a different team at home. After a bad showing last week at Pittsburgh, I think the defense will bounce back. The Lions offense is much faster at home. Calvin Johnson will make his plays, even if Darrell Revis is on him. Lions big.
