Ray Emery signs contract extension with Blackhawks

By Adam Gretz | Hockey writer
The Chicago Blackhawks announced a one-year contract extension for goaltender Ray Emery on Saturday afternoon.

The veteran goalie appeared in 34 games for the Blackhawks this season, starting 27, and compiled a 15-9-4 record to go with a .900 save percentage. He made the Blackhawks roster after being invited to training camp on a tryout contract, and after a rough start in the preseason, showed management enough to earn a spot on the opening night roster as the backup to starter Corey Crawford.

Terms of the deal are not known at this point, but he played this season in Chicago on a one-year contract worth $600,000.
