Video: Pittsburgh Civic Arena demolition as seen through time-lapse

The Pittsburgh Penguins haven't played in the Civic Arena (or, if you remember it from its corporate machine days, the Mellon Arena) for two years now. The building itself has been gone for a few months, but this time-lapse taken by Mike Diggy of its demolition was just posted this week. And it's pretty cool.

Built in the early 1960s for Pittsburgh's Civic Light Opera, it was the first stadium/arena to have a retractable roof and was the home of the Penguins from 1967 to 2010. It also played host to the old Pittsburgh Hornets of the American Hockey League and one Jean Claude Van Damme movie.
