The NHL Daily Fix is your morning wakeup call with news and notes for the day's hockey action.
• The Florida Panthers defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 in a shootout on Thursday night thanks in large part to the sweet move shown above from youngster Jonathan Huberdeau. He's off to a nice start with six points (three goals, three assists) in his first 10 games.
• Here is a pretty subjective list from Sports Illustrated's Allan Muir counting down the 10 most-hated players in the NHL. It features a lot of the usual suspects: Patrick Kaleta, Steve Ott, Jordin Tootoo, Alex Burrows, Raffi Torres and, of course, P.K. Subban. One name that was interesting to see that he left off: Matt Cooke. [Sports Illustrated]
• The Washington Capitals are a mess. And on Thursday night in Pittsburgh, they might have bottomed out. Here is a fantastic read from Japers' Rink on when everything changed for that team and if it really needed to change. [Japers' Rink]
• The Buffalo Sabres broke out of their funk on Thursday thanks to a last-second goal from Thomas Vanek. Right now, it's his league and everybody else is just playing in it. Fortunately for the Sabres, they didn't waste his performance. [Recap]
