New York Islanders fans have a right to be frustrated. The ineptitude that has plagued the once proud franchise might be too much to bear for some. And unfortunately forRick DiPietro, he has become the poster child for the Islanders' ineptitude.

The oft-injured goaltender made his second start of the season Monday night against the Carolina Hurricanes and proceeded to give up five goals.

The Isles were trailing by one when Jiri Tlusty deflected the puck through DiPietro to make it 5-3. After that one, the Nassau Coliseum faithful let the former first overall pick have it with a loud “DiPi sucks” chant, as you can hear over the broadcasters recapping the goal in the video above.

The Hurricanes also scored an empty-netter to earn a 6-4 win on Long Island.

DiPietro has given up nine goals in two appearances in 2013, good for an 0-2-0 record, .842 save percentage and 4.62 goals-against average. The 31-year-old goalie has only played in 49 games over the last five seasons and still has eight years remaining on his 15-year, $67.5 million contract.
