In the wake of Brian Elliot's rough start, goaltending has been a point of concern for the St. Louis Blues. Jake Allen was called up to help out and did he ever help in the first period Friday night.

With the Blues leading the Calgary Flames 2-0 early in the first period, a broken stick led to an odd-man break heading back on Allen. The Blues goaltender looked to have no shot as the puck came to T.J. Brodie in the high slot after some terrific passing by the Flames. As Brodie unleashed the shot, Allen somehow got his stick to the exact right place at the exact right time. Then he just casually snatched the puck out of the air. No big deal.

From every angle, this save is just silly and it has a great shot at being one of the top plays of the year.

Allen earned his first NHL win in Joe Louis Arena on Wednesday and in just his third appearance overall he has a save that will play on highlight reels for years to come. Not bad, kid.
