As Major League Baseball teams start opening full spring training camps this week, perhaps Carolina Hurricanes goalie Cam Ward could join them for some infield practice.

With the Canes trailing the Montreal Canadiens 2-0 in the third period, Carolina still had a fairly manageable deficit. However, when Max Pacioretty seemingly harmlessly flipped the puck from the red line, the hill became a bit taller to climb as it hopped and skipped right past the former Conn Smythe Trophy winner.

These plays look easy enough, but the puck can do some funny things. That second skip was an awfully tricky one.

As bad as it was for Ward, it was some great fortune for Pacioretty, who had yet to score this season after scoring 33 last year.

The Canadiens maintained the 3-0 score to improve to 10-4-1 on the year and move past Boston for first place in the Northeast.
