NHL has hearings for Hagelin, Carkner and Shaw on Sunday

By Adam Gretz | Hockey writer
Saturday was a violent day around the NHL and it's going to result in a busy schedule for Brendan Shanahan on Sunday.

The NHL has discipline hearings scheduled with Ottawa's Matt Carkner, New York's Carl Hagelin and Chicago's Andrew Shaw for their actions on Saturday.

Carkner and Hagelin had their incidents take place in the Senators 3-2 overtime win. Carkner was ejected just two minutes into the first period for an altercation with Brian Boyle (which was a carryover from an incident involving Boyle and Erik Karlsson in Game 1), which you can see right here.

Later in that game Hagelin received a five-minute major for elbowing Daniel Alfredsson, with the Senators captain being forced to leave the game. The fact there was an injury on the play is not good news for Hagelin, as that usually weighs heavily into the NHL's decision to hand out supplemental discipline.

The final hearing on Sunday belongs to Shaw, a rookie for the Blackhawks that was ejected after colliding with Coyotes goalie Mike Smith behind the net. Smith went down hard, and appeared to be in a great deal of pain, but managed to somehow stay in the game.
