Paul Maurice will coach in KHL next season

By Adam Gretz | Hockey writer
It's not just free agent players that the KHL is trying to attract. The Russian league is also going after coaches that are available as well.

According to TSN's Darren Dreger, Magnitogorsk has hired former Carolina Hurricanes and Toronto Maple Leafs coach Paul Maurice, as well as goaltender coach Tom Barrasso.

Maurice coached the Hurricanes this past season and was fired after an 8-13-4 start. In parts of 15 seasons as an NHL coach his teams have won 460 of a possible 1,084 games.

Maurice's name had been mentioned as a possible candidate for several of the NHL jobs that became available over the past few months, and according to Dreger he spoke with the Capitals but was never actually considered for the job.
