Video: First look at EA Sports NHL '13 gameplay

By Adam Gretz | Hockey writer

EA Sports gave us our first look at the gameplay for NHL '13 on Saturday afternoon, and it looks pretty awesome.

Among the features are new controlled skating (including the ability to skate backwards at any time), improved anticipation by goaltenders, and the use of neutral zone forechecking strategies including the 1-3-1 made famous in recent years by Guy Boucher and the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Here is EA Sports gameplay producer Ben Ross showing off and explaining some of the new features.

The game will be released on September 11, 2012, and we already know that Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Giroux will grace the cover after winning a fan vote.
