Erik Karlsson's 2011-12 season was one of the most productive performances we've seen from an NHL defensemen in many years. He finished the season as the highest scoring defenseman in the league with 78 points, 25 more than the second place finisher (Winnipeg's Dustin Byfuglien), and it helped him take home the Norris Trophy.
It also resulted in a seven-year, $45.5 million contract extension from the team.
That's a lot of points, and since the start of the 2000 season only two defensemen managed to top it: Nicklas Lidstrom with 80 back in 2005-06, and Brian Leetch's 79 in 2000-01.
A reddit user took it upon themselves to compile a 14-minute highlight package that features every single goal and assist that Karlsson recorded this past season. Have a look...
It's interesting to watch and see a lot of the assists and how many of them were the result of Karlsson making a simple, quick touch of the puck or a redirection. Of course, it's also fun to watch how many outstanding, highlight reel plays he helped create.
