NHL lockout: Your daily hockey fix for Day 2

By Brian Stubits | CBSSports.com

This is Day 2 of the NHL lockout, 2012 edition. Every day, we'll serve up some CBA talk roundup from the Internet and help you get your hockey fix. Let's begin, shall we?

CBA roundup

"Eventually, the absence of the NHL will be noticed by fans, players and owners. But the impact of the league shutting its doors will take time to be felt." -- Sabres beat writer John Vogl (Buffalo News)

"As a group, the NHL owners routinely engage in brazen hypocrisy. These impulsive, irresponsible NHL owners don't have the discipline to hold the line on salaries. They can't save themselves FROM themselves. And they refuse to help each other with an increase in revenue sharing. And somehow this is the players' fault? The players are to blame? If this nonsense wasn't so sad, it would be laughable." -- Well said, Bernie Miklasz (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)

The lack of hockey will be a boon to Canadian TV networks. Wait, huh? That's the argument being made by Bruce Dowbiggin. (Glove and Mail)

Speaking of networks and covering hockey, one network that won't be feeling a windfall would be NBC Sports Network, which relies heavily on the NHL games to bring in viewers. (USA Today)

"I'm sorry, how is it possible that Donald Fehr is the NHL Players Association executive director? How much sports labor strife can one man subsidize in a single lifetime? Is there no new sports-labor blood out there? My goodness, even Jimmy Hoffa moved on from the Teamsters." -- A take on the lockout from hockey outsider Norman Chad (Washington Post)

Looking for the soundtrack to the lockout and the pain of the fans? Well, here you go. These are some solid parodies. (Puck Daddy)

Hockey fix

Today, we'll feature the last bit of NHL hockey that we saw, the crowning moment for the L.A. Kings from the final seconds of Game 6 in the Stanley Cup Final to the handshakes and Cup ceremony. Hopefully, this won't be the last thing we see for too long.
