Erik Karlsson suspended 1 game for 'throwing' stick at refs

By Adam Gretz | Hockey writer

Erik Karlsson, the NHL's Norris Trophy winner during the 2011-12 season, is spending the lockout playing for Jokerit Helsinki in Finland's top professional league. As one might expect, he's putting up some huge numbers with seven goals and 17 assists in his first 27 games.

He also earned himself a one-game suspension for "throwing" (and we use that term loosely) his stick at a referee following a recent game.

You can see it in the video below (via The Sixth Sens), but you really have to watch for it.

Pay close attention to the blue line on the right side of the screen at around the four-second mark as Karlsson approaches it, and then gently slides his stick across the ice in the general direction of the referees.

At least he was gentle about it.
