Video: Gorgeous lacrosse-style goal from KHL's Miks Indrasis

Miks Indrasis of Dinamo Riga in the KHL went for the old lacrosse-style goal from behind the net and succeeded this week. Like similar goals, it was a thing of beauty.

This goal is now often compared to what Mikael Granlund, the hot Minnesota Wild rookie, did not long ago. That came in the 2011 World Championships semifinal against Russia and has since been commemorated in the form of a postage stamp back in his native Finland.

But really, at least for me, it is known as the Mike Legg goal. The former University of Michigan player pulled it off in an NCAA Regional game back in 1996.

The fact that it's been done before doesn't make it any less impressive. In this case, Indrasis not only had a defenseman taking a swipe at his stick to try to knock it and the puck down, he also had a goalie hugging the post, leaving only a very small window in the top corner to squeeze the puck in. Obviously, Indrasis was able to do it.
