While all eyes have been on Patrick Marleau and the San Jose Sharks this season, Thomas Vanek's performance seems to have slid under the radar.
He's had a point in every game he's played for the Sabres, and during their 7-4 win in Boston on Thursday night he put five points on the board (three goals, two assists). It's already his second five-point game of the season as he also did it in Buffalo's season opening 5-2 win against the Flyers.
Just to put that into perspective, the only player in the NHL that had more than one five-point game last season was Pittsburgh's Evgeni Malkin (he had four), while only seven others had even one.
During the 2010-11 season no player had more than one (there were only 13 total).
And Vanek has now done it twice in less than two weeks.
