Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender James Reimer was forced to leave Monday's 5-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers early with what looked to be a pretty bad injury.

Fortunately for the Leafs, it doesn't sound like it's too bad. The team announced Monday that Reimer sustained a mild MCL knee strain. The prognosis is for him to be out a minimum of one week.

There's no word if Reimer's mom was contacted about the diagnosis.

Reimer had his struggles last season to the point the Maple Leafs were entertaining the idea of landing Roberto Luongo in a trade in their next step to being competitive. But this season he has been very solid.

In nine starts he has a 6-3-0 record with a 2.31 goals against average and .929 save percentage. He said before the season he was expecting to play better and thus far he's shown it.

With Reimer injured the Leafs will turn to Ben Scrivens, who has seen five games of action this season already and has handled himself quite all right as well.

The competent duo has been a welcome change from where the Maple Leafs have been in net for a long time. The hope now is that it wasn't too good to be true and that this injury doesn't cause a setback for the team and Reimer. It doesn't sound like it will, so perhaps it's crisis averted.
