The St. Louis Blues are coming off a perfect 3-0-0 road trip, but that doesn't necessarily mean everything is going smoothly once again.

After defeating the Vancouver Canucks in a shootout on Sunday night, the Blues did what every NHL team does after almost every road game: prepare to hop on a flight and move on to the next city, in this case back home. Only problem was the flight that was supposed to leave sometime around 10 a.m. the next morning was delayed. A long time.

When all was said and done, the Blues didn't get back into St. Louis until 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning. So even with those three wins, that's one rough road trip.

The team was stuck sitting in the airport waiting for one part to the plane. The result was a very early morning arrival in St. Louis before Tuesday night's game at home. Instead of sleeping in their beds for a full night, the players probably slept in airport terminals or in airplane seats. Not exactly ideal for a good night's rest.

But the Blues were at least having a little bit of fun with it.

And finally, from broadcaster Kelly Chase:

Let's call it Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Hockey Edition.

It would have been pretty fun if the Blues had a camera crew following them around. I can only imagine the things hockey players would have done to pass that much time in an airport.

While the story is a bit funny and the players did seem to take it in stride, it's going to make for a rough couple of days for the Blues. As mentioned earlier, they have a game on Tuesday night at home against San Jose and then immediately have to get back on a plane and head to Colorado for a game Wednesday night.

If one team can use the jet lag excuse this season, it's going to be the Blues.
