The NHL Daily Fix is your morning wakeup call, with news and notes for the day's hockey action.
• They needed overtime, but the Chicago Blackhawks extended their season opening streak of consecutive games without a regulation loss to 21 with a shootout win over the Columbus Blue Jackets on Friday night. They look to keep it going on Sunday against the Detroit Red Wings.
But check out that pass by Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews in the video above. He wasn't even looking in the direction of eventual goal-scorer Brent Seabrook, and it appeared that he was looking at the glass for reflections. That is ... pretty amazing, actually.
The Blackhawks are 18-0-3 this season, which is also pretty darn amazing.
• The Anaheim Ducks defeated the Minnesota Wild on Friday night and received another goal from Teemu Selanne. That goal moved him into 11th place on the NHL's career goals list with 669, passing Luc Robitaille. He's two behind No. 10 Jaromir Jagr (who is still playing). The rest of the top 10: Wayne Gretzky, Gordie Howe, Brett Hull, Marcel Dionne, Phil Esposito, Mike Gartner, Mark Messier, Steve Yzerman and Mario Lemieux. [Recap]
